Pablo, you have such as interesting family! Thanks for sharing part of your background with us.

You were fluent and confident for the most part of your video. You corrected yourself when necessary and mentioned how technology impacted your life when you were a child, so you achieved the content objective. Because of your spontaneity, you forgot to use the target language from unit 1, past perfect and tag questions. Remember it is essential at this point to start upgrading grammar and vocabulary. That is actually, the purpose of each task. Read the comments below and set action plans to work on your areas of improvement.

You mispronounced the following words: forced, 1996, event, started, page, helped, algorithms, was, and 15.

In terms of language, check and correct the following sentences:

1. Past tense: “I start to study”, “Why I can’t use that”, “I have been practicing four months”, “I start to create…”, “If I want to be something else”, “I had to decide what I want to do with my life”

2. Prepositions: “She bought to me a computer”, “I put videos for to me”, “on my life”

3. Wrong word: “My family is military”, “If I want to be something else”, “I put videos for to me”

4. Filler: “You know”

I recommend you include the grammar topics discussed in future tasks presentations. Practice –ed endings pronunciation and try to monitor the use of tenses, present vs past. Review the use of prepositions and look up important content words for your presentation. Work hard!

Hello classmates,
I think they did a good job. Jorge's intervention as a specialist doctor was successful and Pablo's as a reporter, however, I think Camila should improve his pronunciation with numbers and body expression because she looked very nervous. You forgot to edit the video in parts where there are mistakes or replays of the scene. I found the introduction of the video very cool.
Best regards.
Lida Marcela Falla Aldana

Pablo, you accomplished the content objective and used the target language in a couple of sentences. You spoke spontaneously and clearly most of the times; however, you did not integrate the new grammatical structures in your task as expected. Read the comments below to see what your weaknesses are so that you can set some action plans.

Check how to pronounce the following words: was, 1918, affected, killed, special, shared, and started.

1. Prepositions: “I’m going to explain about”,

2. Verb forms: “(…) that start in Spain”, “The Spanish flu affect”

3. Wrong word: “The Spanish flu affect more people that WWI”, “We have with us an special doctor”, “The Spanish flu does not have an specific point of start”

4. Question structure: What your partners thought about that?

For future tasks, use and recycle grammar topics so that you show some progress in terms of language. Work on your non-verbal communication as well.

Content: You mentioned some facts about Maria Camila’s life which was great; however, you need to work on your tasks beforehand so that you have enough information to share with the audience. Connect ideas so that it does not seem you are using isolated sentences.

Language: You included a couple of examples with the grammar topics discussed in this and previous courses, spoke fluently, and pronounced words correctly most of the time, but you really need to the target language a lot more (was/were going to, would, perfect modals, and vocabulary related to qualifications). Watch out the following basic mistakes:

o Wrong word: “That is the reason why”, “She practice swimming”, “She could not follow with that part of her life”, “She is also a funny person”, “His major”

o Verb tenses: “She couldn’t goes to the military school”, “She practice”, “She had had a certificate”, “She likes and enjoys a lot to be with people, help people”, “Maria Camila is fall in love with (…)”

o Prepositions: “In the weekends”, “She helps to her teacher to give English classes with her classmates”

o Pronunciation: regrets, captain, and level.

Non-verbal communication: You kept eye contact with some people in class, but look at everyone to connect with each of them.

For future tasks, I suggest working on your tasks thoroughly. Try to rehearse before any presentation so that you are more confident and well prepared. Keep in mind the importance of upgrading you language skills and monitoring your speech as you speak.
