The ELD classroom is intentionally designed to support language development at every touchpoint. As students enter, they engage with a past, present, and future verb calendar, focusing on regular verbs during the first semester and transitioning to irregular verbs in the second semester. Near the exit, students review the day’s language objective and practice a weekly set of homophones or an idiomatic phrase, depending on their grade level. These targeted activities address common challenges for multilingual learners and provide consistent, meaningful exposure to key language skills throughout the week.

For grades 2–5, I use Flashlight 360 to monitor student progress and provide targeted feedback in speaking and writing across content areas. As an ELD teacher, I use Flashlight 360 to track multilingual learners’ growth in real time, offering instant feedback to guide their speaking and writing development. This allows me to address individual language needs, support goal-setting, and ensure students are actively progressing in their academic language skills.
