Earliest evidence of Rammed Earth being dated back to 5000 BCE being seen in multiple Neolithic Archaeological sites firstly in Yangshao and Longshan cultures stretching along the Yellow River in China. By 2000 BCE Rammed Earth structures were a common sight most recognizable in a taipe section of the Great Wall of China.

From 1800 and onward the technique of Rammed Earth started to take off around the world, two US National Historic Landmarks Borough House Plantation and Church or the Holy Cross in South Carolina were both constructed using this technique.

A notable example of 21st Century use is the Rammed earth Facade at the Nk'MipDesert Cultural Center in southern British Columbia, Canada. As of 2014 it is the largest rammed earth wall in North America.
