         <description><![CDATA[<div>Art Spiegelmen was born in February, 15,1948. He attended many schools which that he did not complete because he was exposed to new opportunities every time. He was immigrated with both his parents to the US in 1951. Woody Gelman encourage him to do what he does now. In 1960 was when he first began cartooning. Spiegelman attended Harper College from 1965 - 1968 for art. In 1968 he suffered a brief nervous breakdown and was taken to the state mental hospital.</div>]]></description>

He is married to designer and editor Francoise Mouly and is the father of writer Nadja Spiegelman. He is the narrator of Maus I and Maus II. This book was based on the holocaust and led him to earn a  special award "Pulitzer Prize" in 1992 and an exhibit to the New York City's Museum of Modern Act. </div>]]></description>

His mother was born in Andzia Zylberberg,her name was Anja Speigelman. She lived from 1912 - 1968. Anja survived the holocaust but later committed suicide in may 1968.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> In 1937, the Spiegelmans had one other son, Rysio (spelled "Richieu" in <em>Maus</em>), who died before Art was born at the age of five or six. During the Holocaust,  Spiegelmen parents sent Rysio to stay with an aunt with whom they believed he would be safe. In 1943, the aunt poisoned herself, along with Rysio and two other young family members in her care, so that the Nazis could not take them to the extermination camps <strong>.</strong> After the war, the Spiegelmans, unable to accept that Rysio was dead, searched orphanages all over Europe in the hope of finding him </div>]]></description>
