Additionally, her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma was awash in opportunities, suggesting that sacrifices played a role in her life and helped her advance her life.

Sacrifices are often due to a lack of resources and alternatives

For example, On page 38, where Ponyboy remembers the sacrifices of those close to him and the effects of those actions, it states, “Two-bit’s mother being a barmaid to support him and his kid sister after their father ran out on them… Sodapop… a dropout so he could get a job and keep me in school, and Darry, getting old before his time trying to run a family and hold on to 2 jobs and never having any fun.”(Hinton 38)

Therefore, this shows how sacrifices play a big role in people’s lives. It shows the impacts they make on people’s lives, even if people(like Ponyboy) do not appreciate those sacrifices. The situation that the greasers are in are harsh, and they rely on each other to help get themselves out. It also goes to a deeper level, that success is a team effort, and we ought to thank those who helped us along the way.
