         <title>Using ATL skills as a common theme to link across subjects</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>You can look for common links between subjects and this will support learners develop common academic language. ATL focus can help develop skills, rather than simply trying to align content. This year in year 7, for example, the need to develop the ATL skill of Social, building empathy, helping others and resolving confict, can be applied in different ways within subject areas, yet promote a universal skill and theme. Similarly, all subjects can develop the ATL skill of research, thinking and self-management, and of course commincation is important in every subject. To repeat, I see the use of ATLs as an important hook to integrate subject areas</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We have discussed this over a number of years and tried to include more graphing skills specific to Science but it has been difficult to implement.  Currently the focus on gradient is mainly in year 9.  Time in Year  7 maths is often currently spent getting students up to speed with knowledge &amp; skills that we would expect a student to bring with them from PYP.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Creativity/Self-expression/Culture &amp; form in English in poetry and myths. There could be a link with the My Wonderful World unit in I&amp;S where each student gets a chance to talk about a part of the world they find fascinating. It's a project chosen by them, and they could also build on the research they've done in writing their poems and celebration of culture they have in English.<br>To add to this, French Year 7 also has a unit on poems at the beginning of the year. <br>French studying Homer could  be overlapped with the I&amp;S Bronze Age Cities unit (Priscilla)</div>]]></description>
