The war was fought between the Pequot tribe and English colonists who were traveling westward. The cause of this war was due to unfair trading, destruction of the tribe's crops, and competition over hunting grounds. The first attack on the Pequot's village occurred on the Mystic River on May 1637. This war was fought against the Tuscarora tribe and German and Swiss settlers. The attacks took place in North Carolina and under the leadership of Chief Hancock, the tribe slaughtered the settlers. They killed hundreds of settlers, along with destroying their homes and crops. The main cause of this war was due to the gold that was discovered on the Black Hills, near native's land. The tribe that fought in this war was the Sioux tribe (the Lakota people), under the leadership of Chief Sitting Bull, Chief Crazy Horse, and Chief Gall. The leading man under the setters was George Custer and about 225 of the men under him was defeated. None of the Custer men survived.
