In this practical we cleaned the guinea pig enclosure. We started by making sure all guinea pigs are secure and safe in the animal cages. I made sure all enrichment, food and water bowls out of the way to clean. I then scooped up all of the dirty sawdust and put it in a black bin liner and took the waste to the yellow bins outside. I put in the new sawdust and spread it across the enclosure.

In this practical we were feeding the mammals. We made sure we had PPE on to make sure we were safe from bacteria. We then made sure that we got all bowls and put anigene in it to disinfect bacteria and dirty food. We then weighed the right amount of food for the animal and made sure it's the correct food and what they have on that day. I then made sure the bowl of food is back in the enclosure where the animal can access it. After feeding them we made sure all overalls were put back and cleaned my hands so bacteria doesn't spread.

In this practical we were cleaning the enclosure. First off I put my PPE on which was overalls, steel-caped wellies on, take jewellery off and put hair up. After we made sure we all got the right equipment (shovels, brushes and a wheelbarrow) we went up to the sheep enclosure and cleaned out the accommodation by shovelling up animal faeces and leftover hay and putting it in the wheelbarrow and taking it to the muck heap. After that we made sure the animal shed got new sawdust and hay and we looked for hazards round the enclosure e.g. fence wires with sharp edges are broken, and made sure the teachers know and recorded it in the record books.

In this practical we groomed Lenny. We first put on PPE (overalls and steel-caped wellies) and tied hair up. We then went to collect Lenny for his bath. When we got into the grooming room, we made sure the bath was safe to use and made sure the temperature was the right temperature for Lenny (luke warm water). We then took off his collar and lead and put him in the bath. We rinsed him with the water until he was fully soaked and put on the correct shampoo until he was covered and rinsed him off again. We then found a clean towel, wrapped him up with it on and took him to the grooming tables. We rubbed him with the towel until there was no water on him. We then plugged in the hair dryer and dried and bushed his fur until he was full dry. We put him back in his kennel with collar back on and filled in the record book tha he was been cleaned.
