Some of the other religious leaders weren't happy with him, so they started spreading rumours that he was disrespecting and mocking Moses and god. He was soon arrested and sent to trial. Instead of lying and taking his words back, he told them that, because they don't believe that Jesus is the true Son of God, they are, too, disrespecting God and Moses. He got stones thrown at him and, in his last moments, said "Lord, receive my spirit." And, like Jesus at his crucifixion, forgave them and said "Do not hold this sin against them." Then, he died.

We should prove that we can be brave and stick up for God and what we believe in. Because it's not just about helping God it's about joining together and showing that we care about our religion. You don't need a big gesture but as long as you follow your beliefs and do your part in your church community, God couldn't ask for anything else. He died for his faith and that is something that should always be commemorated.

He was arrested and put on trial even though he wasn't guilty, despite this Stephen didn't back down or take back his words he just carried on speaking about and praising Jesus. Stephen saw heaven heaven open and saw Jesus at the right hand of God. The religious leaders were so mad they dragged him out of the city and threw stones at him to hurt him. He prayed to the Lord and said,'Lord receive my spirit'. Unlike most people who would hold grudges and be extremely cross and annoyed Stephen fell to his knees and forgave all of his enemies. He said, 'Do not hold this sin against them'. Shortly after he died. The news of his death spread quickly and the followers of Jesus fled the country of Jerusalem to avoid the same thing happening to them. However, soon they realised that they could always trust God no matter what so the church grew and the news of Jesus' life spread all over the world.
