2: Undertake new challenges that require new skills: Francesco T: In this activity we improved our communication skills, because we had to persuade and engage many people so they would give us money or take leaflets. Moreover, we managed to have a responsible and balanced behaviour, even though lots of people provoked us. This activity helped us to be more united as we had to plan some team strategies and it was very important to overcome some difficulties, such as the shyness.

Student Reflection: 7 Consider the ethical implications of their actions: Greta P: Although it should be almost a duty in a relatively rich country as ours to help poorer countries, few were willing to help. It would help us all not only because of human ethics but also financially, and also with illnesses: Containing diseases, making them vanish and creating potential future trades with these countries.

7 Samuele L: People were most of the time trying to ignore me. Some exceptions were the old ladies, who would often donate. I think this is because old people know what poverty and diseases truly are. There was also a moment in which one mid-aged lady came to us thanking for what we were doing and giving us tips. I didn’t go there because I was obliged, I went there because I believe something good can happen, and that if the society starts to think in a new-caring way, the world situation could twist into a better one.

1 • become more aware of their own strengths and areas for growth Sofia T: During the activity I learned something about myself;I learned that I'm more patient than I thought, indeed I was expecting from myself to shout and be mad at the first person who was rude to me,but instead I didn't because I understood that it wasn't the right thing to do,so I just ignored rude people.I asked for money politely even if people were rude to me.

5 ° work collaboratively with others Francesco B: I think the activity is very important because saving the lives of people that suffer a lot is intelligent and caring. Two important values that I have learned are collaboration and challenge because they are two crucial elements in the future, these things have to be taught now so that when you grow you are able to perform them well. Although many people ignored us, I tried to make an effort and at the end I felt happy and proud to have helped an showed support people who suffer from leprosy.

This event has now become a tradition for MYP4 students: everyone can buy one or more tombola’s cards and try to win one of the many prizes at stake! Also, the money that is spent to buy cards is given to the Community of Sant’Egidio! Students remark that “everyone enjoys playing tombola” and that this activity is considered “one of the most entertaining C&S activities” because it makes them “consider a new perspective, which is being able to donate money to charity and help people in difficulty by playing and having fun”.

1) I sold 10 tickets of the lottery to my neighbours with my friend Margherita.
I liked this activity because I met new people that live 20 m from my home.
The proceeds will go to Banca degli Occhi.

Description and Goals

Selling tickets for a good reason, such as this one, made it pretty easy to sell all the ones I was given. I would have not made it if it wasn't for my parents. My dad sold a lot of them to his colleagues and friends (and one of them won a computer) but I did a great job as well selling my tickets to grandparents and all family members. Thanks to this activity, I discovered a new skill that I never thought I had: I am a good seller, I am good at persuading people to buy what I offer them! I firstly challenged myself to sell the two ticket booklets that I was given. Not only I succeeded, I sold more than those two!

Perseverance:We were divided in small groups of, more or less, nine people divided in different times. I was in the group from quarter past ten to half past eleven. Mr. Ebury gave to every group of 3 people a bib of the school, some flyers on leprosy and a container to collect money; we also had a big billboard on leprosy to put on the point of reference where we were. The weather was a bit cold but we endured continuing smiling and screaming: “Donate some money to leprosy patient” or “Would you like to help leprosy patient?”.Some people were not very educated and they even insulted us saying that leprosydoes not exist anymore; indeed others were very gentle and interested in this seriousdisease and they gave us lots of money.I think that this activity had a very important meaning and I am enthusiast to havedone it. Hope we can do it another time

On the 25th of January 2020, me and my classmates went in Via ventisettembre to collect moneyfor Calam. This experience was, initially, very scary because I was scared of what peoplemight say. Although my fear disappears when we arrived there. In general the experiencewas very fun, also because I had my friends, but I also learned something. Not everybody isnice to you, and you should just ignore people who ignore you. The thing that will forever beon my mind is this old lady that passed by us. We were repeating the same sentences: “Hiwould you like to donate some money blah blah blah”. She ended up giving some moneyand we said: “ thank you, you could really change things”. She answered with: “ you are ourfuture, you will be the ones changing things, thank you”. It was sweet and also verythoughtful. In conclusion I think it is a very innovative things for schools to raise money, andI’m proud to be in a school that does raise money for a disease.

From the end of March to the beginning of Aprili 2021During this period me and my classmates created a sort of booklet full of Phrasal Verbs activities that then the people at Gaslini hospital, ABEO and a kindergarthen will recieve. It took a lot of effort and I'm proud of how it came out.Even though we had restrictions due to COVID-19 rules we still managed to (in my opinion) achieve a great result and to work togheter.

I helped my class to collect all phrasal verbs games that we create in class together for children in hospital. I felt happy to create games for childrens in hospital so we can make children happier because they can't go to school. We also did it in Italian with our text that we will put on a drive together.
