Evolution is an organism's adaptation to the environment, in which genetic mutation occurs in that organism. Evolution shows that all living things are connected because they show similarities in the early stages of their embryo.
Embryology is the study of embryos. Embryos are the unborn offspring in a pregnant mother, before developing into a fetus.
In study, Embryos of different species were compared to each other. They showed similarities in the earlier stages of development. If you were shown the several embryos, you would have no clue which species they came from, due to their similar shape, eyes, tail, color, etc. In the later stages, their features definitely show differences to each other.
Embryology supports the theory of all living things sharing a common ancestor because organisms show very similar traits to each other during the early stages of their embryo.

They had legs that were able to walk on land and were strong swimmers they lived about 54 million years ago.
The evidence shown above supports the theory that all living things share a common ancestor, if that wasn't the case the anatomy between whales and Maiacetus wouldn't be so similar.
