The cities in Mesopotamia were mostly settled on, or near the Euphrates or Tigris river. As you can see in the map here; https://docs.google.com/a/naperville203.org/document/d/1gd1NtkTyg7lYGmYEDDM_0gQnfFHMn0XLSP0xwKXnumM/edit?usp= most of the cities are in between both of the rivers. I think that this is a good idea to settle on one of these rivers, but settling in between both, could lead to wars and/or fighting over territories. I think that cities like Mosul, or Mari, that are on only one river, have a greater chance of thriving, and not getting into as many fights as the other cities, like Babylon, or Kabala.

The art in Mesopotamia was very important to the people's everyday life. There were many forms of art in Mesopotamia. The Mesopotamian forms of art rivaled the Ancient Egyptian art. Mesopotamian art started in the Bronze Age, with the Sumerians, Babylonians, Akkadiains, and the Assyrians, but then later evolved to the Iron Age. Ancient Mesopotamia was one of the great times for growths in religion, and culture as well. Mesopotamian art consists of many different things, including cylinder seals, reliefs, and other types of art. Some examples are here; https://docs.google.com/a/naperville203.org/document/d/1thyU0xYExzQzN3pjo9bkSaS90t6gkt2-81ng6kmf6TU/edit?usp=sharing

Having an organised government is very important to any civilization. In Mesopotamia, they had different types of government for each city. In Sumer, they had the first code of laws, written by Hammurabi, and the Assyrians had different branches of government that each had a certain job. The people in the higher classes have the most power, and the higher classes control the lower classes.

These people built temples, worked in the fields.
There are good and bad things in each of the classes;
In the upper class, you rule, but you do not control the people living under your rule, they could choose to try and take over.
In the middle class, you are able to build and trade, but if you were in this class, you are still under the rule of the upper class.
In the lower class, you work under the control of everyone. The lower class helps the upper class and the middle class by working in the fields, and the people in the lower class are the people that, to an extent, provides for the other two higher classes.

Written script is very helpful in terms of communication, as well as keeping records. People write every day and the way of writing Is constantly evolving. In Mesopotamia, The form of writing that they used was called cuneiform. The Sumerians created Cuneiform. This was the evolution of cuneiform.

The Babylonian Cuneiform Alphabet

Cuneiform was not always the lines and triangles, from the back of the tools that they used.
