"Who knows? Perhaps we are being deported for our own good. The front isn't very far off, we shall soon be able to hear the guns. And then the civilian population would be evacuated anyway” (pg 17)
I wonder if he is the only one that thinks that?. The central issue is that it shouldn’t happen but he still thinks there is hope that it might be better off that way. I know it seems odd to agree but he doesn’t know what will happen later on

Let body hear about it, while they can still escape” (pg 29)
I noticed that only one person was willing to help other that I know of. No one should have to warn others of how bad the camps are and why would they believe them except for hitter that’s promising all of theses good things that they won’t get.

“I sat in the chair and asked him humbly: "Please, what are you going to do?” "Simply take out your gold crown," he replied, indiffer- ently” (pg 46)
I realise that the “dentist” was I’m a hurry but not in a hurry because he let elie go to “feel better” and to come back. And I think that if he was really needing it he would of just taken it. Elie was making excuses. A few days after they closed the dentist and thrown him into prison to be hanged. So elie got to keep his gold tooth.

“My eyes were open and I was alone-terribly alone in a world without God and without man. Without love or mercy. I had ceased to be anything but ashes, yet I felt myself to be stronger than the Almighty to whom my life had been tied for so long.” (Pg 62)
I was reminded of how he believed in god so much that he would fast for him and now I think he believes that gods not there to protect him/ help you. Although I think he’s the only that think that god has betrayed him and has left him so suffer. gods not physically there so the only thing he can do is hope and I don’t think he has much hope left.

He may still have been breathing.” (Pg 97)
I think he was in shock that they would do anything like that explicitly that late at night. Although the book is called night so maybe that had something to do with it. there was no religious funeral or candles lit.
