SDG 4 (QUALITY EDUCATION) : STUDYING DURING COVID - 19 ERA

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone, my name is Nur Adawiyah binti Abd Rahim.I am currently first year first semester student in International Islamic University Malaysia. So for my first blog for Sustainable Development Goals, I will be talking about SDG 4 which is quality education.

During 2020 and 2021, the world is facing a virus that is called the COVID-19. One of the most affected fields is the education field. So actually, I was a 17 years old school student where I need to sit for SPM that year. So, in Malaysia we all know that it is compulsory on every student to take Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) once they want to graduate from high school. SPM plays an important role in deciding how your future are going to be because your path after school depend on your SPM result such as the university that you are going or maybe a job that you try to apply.

At the moment, me and my friends are having a really hard time studying since we have to follow the restriction decided by the government which is no gathering at any place including the schools. So, we all have to study through online classes which is really hard because there is no face-to-face interaction with the teachers. It become more unbearable since we all have to seat for SPM that year. It was a lot of pressure on us. We faced a lot of trouble during the online learning session such as internet connection problems, household problems, and also to be honest studying at home really makes us feel lazier than usual so sometimes there are student who skip classes because they sleep late and they miss the class in the morning.

So, the action taken by the teachers are, some of them sent videos or slides for us to read to make sure we know about the topic that we miss and we can contact them to ask about those topics. For the students who miss the class regularly, the teacher tries to approach them personally and try to solve the problem with the students. As for us, the students, we try really hard to help each other in understanding the studies, so sometimes we make an online group discussion or we make a small study group because it takes two times effort during those times compare to the no-covid era.

At the end of the days, everybody has their own struggle during those times and we actually manage to seat for the test and alhamdulillah, we receive a just nice result to ensure our continue in studies for the next level.I am actually grateful for the struggles during those times because here I am in the university of my dream IIUM. And the lesson that I learned from the situation is {Indeed with hardships come ease} (94:7).

Thank you for reading my blog everyone. With love Adawiyah.
