However, when I am teaching, I become the one who need to share my knowledge to my students. Hence, I need to look up the knowledge before the class begins and I have to set up different segments, for example games like Kahoot and breakout rooms to make my students more interested in the class.

I used to think that teaching is a one-way process in which teachers convey knowledge to their students. However, after stating the class, I noticed that class should be teacher-directed and student-centered. The interaction between teacher and student matters a lot in the efficiency of learning a language. As a teacher, we have to focus more on our students' feedback and reflect on ourselves in order to provide our students with better help.

Through The Terminal and Rodger’s article, I know we shouldn’t pay much attention on the teaching itself in the class, but what students’ learnt.

In addition, interaction is also important. Learning a new language is a social process, and in the class we should give students more opportunities to express, discuss and communicate with each other. Also, we should use the strategy of feedback to improve the class quality.

For teaching, it would be not enough for us to learn something, we need to put our attention to the question “Can I explain this to others so they could understand?” Studying is no longer my own thing, but a kind of communication and discussion. Besides, as a student, we usually give feedback to teachers, while as teachers, it’s time for us to give feedback to others. This process indicates large amount of work in preparing the materials, making PPT, finding any source of information that could help students understand, and also paying attention to students’ statuses—do they show interest about the materials, do they get the core idea about the topic, etc., which we seldom consider when we are students.
