-Giftwrapping and decoration: Don't buy it new! At least twice a year you get way too much of it anyways. Keep it and reuse it. And if you're gifting more than you got last year: Use a paperbag you still have from takeout, packaging from your grocery shopping or an old newspaper or paper you already used and no longer need. And if you really cannot find anything at all, not even some old cloth you don't need any more: Then just hand it over with a smile and take it from behind your back or out your purse.

-reuse and regift. It's not a shame to regift! Someone else might make more use of it! And the person who gifted it to you only gave it, because they thought you'd use it. Everyone makes mistakes with gifting. If you don't use/ need it, someone else will and your gifting friend will be happy you saved the money to buy a present. The third or fifth person will be very happy.

-gift environmental friendly gifts, that your friends are too afraid to try out, but you know they'll love it (like menstruation cups etc),

-gift immaterial gifts like spending time, doing an activity together, audio books, E-books if the person has an E-reader and likes them

-gift things they need to buy anyways. Maybe tell them things like: "I do not want any gifts wrapped!", or "This year I exclusively want immaterial gifts." Explain your reasons to them, so they take it seriously.

-Talk to your friends/ family and decide together to this year not gift, but cook something nice together. Just so you don't throw food away.

-Things you use a lot (maybe Oil, Pasta, Rice, Oatmeal), buy them in big bulks, for example at gastronomy-stores, that provide restaurants and therefore sell big amounts. That means less packaging. But only of things you will definetely use! Don't throw food away.
You can buy food in bulk at KoRo, for example. If you team up with friends, it's cheaper and you only get one package.
KoRo: https://www.korodrogerie.de/ueberblick/

-to avoid packaging you can buy big amounts with friends/ family/ flat- and roommates, and then split it. Try to eat a vegan alternative, that gives you the thing you're actually in the mood for. There are amazing alternatives nowadays.
If that still really didn't work and you think you NEED it. Don't force yourself too much, you tried all you could.
