One of the most known night clubs is The Cotton Club. It was located in Harlem on 142nd St. At the time, this was the place to be. Everybody would meet up here. There were even celebrity visits almost every Sunday. The club was a whites-only establishment, but the entertainers for the most part were black such as: Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and Bessie Smith.

New Orleans was one of the cities that had some of the most influence in this music type. Jazz spread all around the world and because of that lot´s of different types of Jazz came to be. For example Gypsy Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Cool Jazz, Modal Jazz and many more. Jazz is still considered one of america´s original art forms jazz has been around for almost 100 years now and is still going to continue to grow.

He created hotels, restaurants, laundries and a printing press for his people. He also wanted his people to be respected and not discriminated. Marcus was sent to prison and later on was deported to Jamaica. In 1935 he moved to London permanently. Marcus had a stroke in January 1940 which left him paralyzed partially. In May 1940 Marcus had a fatal stroke or heart attack after reading a news article that George Padmore wrote. Garvey died on June 10, 1940. In 1964, his body was returned to Jamaica where he was declared  the country's first national hero.

The purpose was to sell his beer to the people. Their club would get shut down because of selling beer but they had connections and the would re open the club quickly. To get in the club they had restrictions you had to be 5'6 , light skinned, and had to be under 21.They were forced to close the club down because of the Race Riots of Harlem in 1935 , but it open up again in the late 1936.
