I know genes are a length of DNA that codes for a certain trait in a organism. Genes also have 2 variations called alleles, one from your mom and one from your dad. All humans have 23 chromosomes. A chromosome is dna tightly wrapped around histones. DNA is made of a deoxyribose, a phosphate group, and a nitrogen base.

You get one allele from mom and one from dad which gives you a pair of homologous chromosome. Genotype is the specific alleles that you get from your parents and Phenotype is the actual trait that is show. You have 22 autosomes and 1 sex chromosome
