Learning pods or students sitting in duos or trios is definitely something I would do in my classroom to create a space that encourages collaborative learning. Lastly, making the content relatable to the real world will be how I will set the hearts of my students on fire. When they can relate what they learn in the classroom to something outside of the classroom they will experience that "aha moment".

-Lawren Keaton

Asking leading questions is a strategy that I am using to get my students thinking about the bigger picture. A laugh escapes from my stomach every five minutes, or something is going terribly wrong. Students love humor.
-Jacob Alarcon-Young

While I am passionate about lots of periods in history, my students may not be. I could run a poll asking them what period of history they would like to do a project on. They could work on it themselves even if its outside of the standards. The main focus would be that it’s something that they want to learn and are engaged in. Even recently if I was a teacher now I would suggest maybe doing a project involving the recent hurricanes to hit the US or the big Earthquake to hit Mexico. Students are often passionate about what is going on right now in history.

-Roman Arias

As a teacher, we need to make the time spent in class worth their time. Bring the energy! Bring the passion!

In order to set kids hearts on fire for learning I think there has to be a change in mindset and environment. As a teacher, I want to make it understood for students that when they walk into my classroom they can leave the drama, what previous teachers or persons have said about their abilities in the past and that the room is for a positive, inspiring, and freeing place of learning. Also, the concept of why they attend the class and letting them know that one truly can change the world and accomplish anything with knowledge. Thus, I liked the teachers way of created empowerment, bringing the outside world into her classroom in a positive fashion, open forum discussions and a different room setup. Ideally, I would like visual inspiration of quotes, separate learning areas for kids to study in silence, with music, and places for them to calm their minds before coming together to have discussions. Basically, change the dynamic of learning with keeping and incorporating traditional methods and strong foundations of where education started.
-Reneisha Carter
