I grew up in the small city of Florence, SC. Most people I knew held very conservative social values. People that didn't fit in faced oppression.

A major part of my life is my church, McGregor Presbyterian Church in Irmo, SC. I volunteer my time working on many projects. The church's mission of social justice connects with much of what I'm learning in class.

My family is the most important thing to me. The relationships I have with my wife and my stepson drive many of my actions and my environment.

I've lived in Irmo SC, a growing suburb of Columbia, for most of my adult life. The town is socioeconomically and racially diverse. Like many suburban areas, it seems to have sprawled beyond its initial planned growth area, and is a bustling community.

My favorite part of Irmo is the scenic walkway along the dam that forms Lake Murray. It's used by the community for exercise and social interaction. As a runner, it's a great place to connect with my environment and regulate myself.
