James I (1603-1625)

I am King James I and I am the first Puritan King who took over after the Great Queen Elizabeth. I was the first King of England to translate the bible into English, calling it the King James Bible. I was honored as the namesake for the new English settlement in our newly acquired land of America. We named in Jamestown.

Charles I (1625-1649)

I am King Charles I and I became the king after James which was in 1625. I was also one of the kings known for believing in the divined rights of kings. My feud with Parliament led to me dissolving the governed body without their permission which soon led to the English Civil War in 1642. My forces were called the Royalists or Cavaliers while Oliver Cromwell's forces were called the Roundheads. I was defeated and executed for treason against my own country.

Oliver Cromwell (1649-1658)

I am Oliver Cromwell and I emerged as a military leader during the English Civil War. I was also a Puritan Army general and because of my success in the Civil war, I was crowned the Lord Protector. I then ruled England until my death in 1658. I was also known because of the execution of James I which I played a part in.

Charles II (1658-1685)

I am King Charles II and I did have a rough time during the Cromwell rule where I was exiled to France by Cromwell himself because I posed a threat to the throne as Charles I's son. Once Cromwell died, I came back to England and restored the Monarchy. This time period was known was the Restoration but I did have problems. For example, the 1666 fire that took place in London and was named The Great Fire of London 1666. I also tried to clean up some of the wounds left by the Civil War which was done by pursuing a policy of religion tolerance in a document called the Declaration of Indulgence. This declaration grated everyone freedom of worship to non-anglican protestants and catholics. My time soon came to an end in 1685.

James II (1685-1688)

I am King James II and I am The Roman Catholic brother of Charles II. As many may know, Charles Ii had 12 illegitimate children so I would be the last Roman Catholic King of England, Ireland, and Scotland. During my time as King, I faced many challenges as many were upset that I was the king because I was a Catholic King and the majority of England was Protestant. Due to the challenges with religion and many others, the Glorious Revolution of England began. I was soon overthrown peacefully but solidified the Constitutional Monarchy that laid the foundation for the English Bill of Rights that limited powers of the monarch.

Mary (1688-1702)

I am Mary daughter of King James II. Unlike my father, I was raised Protestant and married my first cousin William of Orange (A Protestant Dutch Prince). When parliament completed the overthrow of my father King James II, they asked me and my husband (William) to rule jointly as a Protestant alternative. Our rule began the Constitutional Monarchy in England by agreeing to cover in accordance with the laws and decisions of Parliament. Our reign was known for the passing of the English Bill of Rights in 1689 which officially limited the monarchy.
