He knew his son enjoyed sports, so he didn't want to take football away from him in the fears that his spirit would grow bitter. But Teddy still made sure to remind his son that although it is okay to like sports and work hard to excel in them, there are always going to be things that are more important like one's health and their character. This relates to the other stimulus papers that we have read. It highlights how sports are great and they can bring out the best in people just like "Hoops", but they can cause bigger problems than one can expect. (Orwell's Essay)

In the perspective of Roosevelt, sports are seen as a mere distraction when finding a greater purpose in life. As a father, he believed that he a responsibility to ensure that his son finds success and great achievements, but he thinks that sports have a certain limit in which it can build a person. As a source of entertainment, health, and even dangers and division, sports have dispersed globally, and they are viewed in so many different ways. It makes me question how the outlook of sports in different groups can be compared and contrasted.
