Dear officials of the Education Department

As a citizen, I'd like to talk about how we, especially children, can improve problem-solving ability. Today, our systems of education seem to support excessive competition. But I think it is seriously wrong because they can be so harmful to their creativity. I think children must find their own problem-solving abilities that are appropriate for them because each child has different talents and thought systems. But if this situation is continually maintained, it may block them from finding their own abilities and improving them. So, I emphasize the role of teachers because I think teachers can only deal with this problem. To solve this problem, teachers should lead children to find and improve their abilities. Then, you can ask me how teachers lead them. My answer is that teachers should provide students with opportunities to study by utilizing a lot of information and some classes that require cooperative activities like discussion. By using these methods, children can develop their creativity so they can naturally find their own problem-solving abilities that are appropriate for them. I especially emphasize cooperative activities like discussion because in that class, children exchange their opinions with one another, and during that activity, they can even find their abilities as well. Next, after they find the abilities, the teacher should do other work. It's to encourage them to improve those abilities more proficiently. If teachers follow these steps, children will be able to improve their problem-solving abilities faster and more efficiently than they don't. Finishing this article, I hope that these come true.

Sincerely, Seokgyun Jeon

Have you seen the movie, “Little Mermaid” or “Moana”, which represents the beauty and wonder of the ocean? It is not surprising that the beautiful environment is so distant from us, so you might think that we don’t really have something to do with it other than enjoying the scenery. However, did you know that how you live can actually decide its color?

What is the first that comes to your mind when you think of the ocean? There would be a variety of answers, but one of the responses would be a coral, with its colorful bodies, various shapes, and countless fish that are living with it. From now on, as a marine biologist, let me talk about the coral, which has so many wonders but also is being threatened. Though many students might think of coral as a plant or a lifeless thing, it is actually a collection of hundreds of thousands of tiny animals called polyps. They live with thousands of colorful algae called zooxanthellae, forming a symbiosis.

Symbiosis means that they make mutually advantageous relationships so that they can both survive.

However, the point is that this relationship, further their survival, is at risk. As global warming gets intense, the temperature of the sea rises, leading to the symbiosis of the coral and zooxanthellae being broken. Consequently, a process known as ‘coral bleaching’ is unfolded. This process, which is also referred to as ‘desertification underwater,’ causes the sea to lose its color, with tons of coral skeletons being left. The reason why it is so important and dangerous is that when coral dies as a result of ‘coral bleaching’, not only do we lose a chance to see the reef, but more than a quarter of all marine life loses its shelter. It has a huge impact on marine biodiversity.

Then, what can we do to settle this matter? The most important key is our constant attention and effort to the marine environment, including the coral. Read a book, talk with your friends, watch a related video, or read an article about this problem like what you’re doing now. Keep talking and sharing this issue, and don’t forget to participate in related campaigns to take action. Make yourself a sensible youth, and this recognition of the ocean environment will be spread to a generation.

If you want to know more information about marine biology and what we can do with their threats, please visit our ABC Oceanographic Institution website.

Dear people of the Education Department

Globalization, digitization, and the popularization of the Internet of Things are influencing not only daily life but also the educational system. Some research showed that digital education can help enhance students' problem-solving abilities by understanding them as unique individuals.

Problem-solving skills are rather just solving problems, approaching them creatively and considering various alternatives. Research that is performed in education programs by 한국열린유아교육회 confirmed the educational impact of AI technology. This technology, for example, significantly has an influence on children’s studying through AI-based problem-solving practices. For example, activities like using puzzles or robots performed by AI programs improved children's problem-recognition abilities, and the constant suggestions allowed them to experience trial-and-error learning. AI's most outstanding feature that is personalized feedback lets children be able to prove one's real worth.

The government announced the "인공지능 국가 전략" in 2022. As a result, although the supply of digital devices in schools has increased over the past three years, the amount of supply does not directly correlate with the amount of usage. A teacher at an elementary school in Gyeonggi mentioned that students have a low preference for digital textbooks. Moreover, because of the differences between the devices used during teacher training and the actual devices which are supplied, they faced significant challenges.

In order to resolve these law use rate and teachers’ challenges, we need to improve structure of business to provide more preparation time for digital education. Additionally, as you saw in the educational programs, if teaching tools such as AI-based puzzles and robots were offered for children, these technology can bring us closer to the main goal of enhancing students' problem-solving abilities within our reach. I look forward to your reply to this proposal.

To. Officials of the Education Department

Hello, I live with a deep interest in developing our society and policies for the public interest as a citizen. When people see the young generation these days, one of the points focusing is the ability to manage situations. We can often find journals or articles that analyze that they tend to avoid facing long writing or sudden matters which is hard to treat. There is problem-solving ability at the center of the phenomenon which seems not to be personal but collective. Therefore, I suggest modifying part of the curriculum by a state agency in charge of education. It is necessary to stimulate continuously to improve problem-solving ability. It is to debate regularly by the school to raise the ability to find solutions actively and encounter various circumstances. It is to activate repeatedly, such as once at 3 months, considering each balance of elementary, middle, and high school. If our children grow up through such a process, they will be able to speak their opinions smoothly in society and persuade others if necessary.

Question: What other activities, besides debate, do you think could help students become better at handling unexpected situations?

After the era of generative AI in the 21st century, we are living in the era of AI creation in the 22nd century.

Now, you can easily read self-customized novels, which are generated by AI, on your phone.

However, what I’d like to say here is this: Put your smartphone away, go outside, and head to the library. And pick any human-made book to read.

Why would we do that? Why do we have to waste our time reading a book that might not be in our taste? Why should literature be out of touch with AI?

The answer is simple. It is because literature is a human creation.

Unlike humans, AI just uses its database and information to generate a story to follow the given command.

The author never struggled to make sense of the story, to breathe life into the characters, and to build a new world that they will live in.

How can we call literature without creativity a creation?

Furthermore, what literature tells us is more than a mere story and entertainment.

For example, people struggling with their problems can release their pain through writing.

And the reader can slightly understand how it is to live such a life.

Can AI-created novels do this kind of thing? Perhaps it can be written based on actual facts, but it can never contain the personal life of the author or the reader.

Nowadays, reading AI novels has become a trend. We can write our own book in an hour, and we can read exactly what we want.

But do you really think that it is all about reading?

Read a story from someone that exists and write your own story with a pen.

Although it may be time-consuming, the reward will be time-worthy.

Thank you for listening.

On behalf of the 2050 Human Teachers Union, I am truly honored to say this. AI is in charge of most of the classes these days. It's fast and smart, and it's not exhausting. However, I sometimes think that. It's like... I think something important is missing. AI can teach facts and score tests. But it's hard to notice the hesitation in your voice or the anxiety in your eyes. One day, after a hard day, I really wanted to give up. It wasn't the machine that said "I trust you" at the time; it was my teacher. Learning is not all about memorizing or solving problems. It's the process of getting to know yourself and growing up as you run into life. On that road, I need someone who's walked before, someone who truly looks at me, waits for me, and trusts me. No matter how smart the world is filled with machines, we still need real people—someone who teaches with all his heart and connects warmly. Someday, I want to be that kind of person to someone. Thank you for your attention.

Animal Farm shows the process of animals being exploited by humans to revolutionize and create an equal and free society, but over time, power is concentrated on some animals, and eventually another system of oppression is created. At first, it was very impressive to see Napoleon, the leader of the pig, gradually monopolizing power, instigating and deceiving animals. In particular, the sentence, "All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal," was most impressive, which shows the contradictions that speak of equality on the outside but actually justify inequality, which seems to represent a good image of modern society

As I read this book, I realized the dangers of power and the importance of responsibility, and I learned that in order for society to operate properly, a critical perspective and consciousness of citizens monitoring power are essential. In addition, through the situation of animals, I was able to understand the process by which revolutions in real history change from their original ideals over time, and it became an opportunity to become interested in our current social problems. When I read a book in the future, I thought that I wanted to read a book thinking about the social message hidden in the work, not just understanding the plot of the work.
