Nxalati is developing a strong awareness of her body and how it moves. She enjoys participating in movement activities, particularly dancing, and shows great enthusiasm when performing the concert song. She is becoming more confident on the jungle gym and demonstrates increasing control and coordination in her movements. Nxalati can identify and name basic body parts and uses them purposefully during activities, such as clapping her hands to music, jumping with both feet, or stretching her arms high. We are very proud of her progress!

Fine Motor:

Nxalati is still learning to hold her crayon correctly and can make horizontal marks on her art paper. She delights in creative tasks such as painting, where she expresses herself freely while strengthening her fingers and hand muscles. She particularly enjoys using different coloured paints to decorate the butterfly. Nxalati shows perseverance when completing puzzles and can confidently build a three-piece puzzle, although she still finds a six-piece puzzle challenging. With continued practice and regular exposure to fine motor activities, she will continue to develop her strength, coordination, and confidence.

Gross Motor:

Nxalati is showing steady progress in her gross motor development. She moves confidently around her environment, demonstrating good balance and coordination when climbing and walking across the bridge on the large jungle gym. She is also developing greater control when aiming for and hitting the ball into a hoop. Nxalati enjoys physical activities that allow her to practise skills such as hopping, skipping, and catching a ball. She is becoming increasingly aware of her body in space and is learning to control her movements safely during play. I am so proud of you!

Visual Development:

Nxalati is making good progress in her visual perceptual skills. She can identify several shapes and colours and is able to match them correctly. She takes pleasure in paging through books and confidently recognises the pictures she sees. She enjoys building with blocks and can construct a tall tower with care. Nxalati is curious about her environment and often collects little blossoms or fallen flowers, demonstrating her keen observation skills. She is showing wonderful focus and enthusiasm for discovering new things!

Auditory Development:

Nxalati is developing her auditory perceptual skills beautifully. She listens attentively during group activities and enjoys joining in with songs and rhymes, particularly “Row, Row, Your Boat.” She responds well to familiar sounds in her environment and can recognise the voices and noises of her friends. Nxalati shows understanding by following simple instructions and often responds enthusiastically when her name is called. She is also keen to identify animal sounds in songs such as “Old MacDonald” and enjoys exploring musical instruments, demonstrating growing listening skills. Nxalati is showing excellent engagement and confidence in all listening and musical activities!

Nxalati takes great pleasure in participating in creative art activities and expresses herself confidently through her drawings and paintings. She shows curiosity when exploring a variety of materials, including crayons, paint, and macaroni. She was particularly enthusiastic when mixing colours while painting the butterfly, creating her own unique artwork. Nxalati enjoys colouring and is beginning to hold her crayon and paintbrush correctly. She can open and close scissors, though she is still learning the proper grip. With continued opportunities for creative exploration, her artistic confidence and fine motor coordination will continue to develop. Nxalati is making excellent progress in her creative skills and is growing in confidence when expressing herself through art.

Music and Rhythm:

Nxalati takes great pleasure in singing along to familiar songs and rhymes, such as “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and “I’m So Happy.” She is beginning to develop a good sense of rhythm and enjoys clapping and moving her body to the beat. She expresses herself with confidence and joy during music time and is eager to explore simple instruments, including shakers and drums. With continued encouragement, her listening skills and rhythmic coordination will continue to grow steadily.

Nxalati is progressing well in her literacy skills. She enjoys paging through books independently and often points to familiar objects or characters she recognises. She delights in storytime and is beginning to participate in our morning ring time discussions, confidently identifying pictures of the alphabet. Nxalati also enjoys singing rhymes and action songs, such as “Puffer Train,” which support her awareness of rhythm, sound, and language patterns. Her enthusiasm for books and stories reflects her growing love of literacy and communication. Well done, Nxalati!

Nxalati shows a keen interest in learning additional languages. She listens attentively and makes a wonderful effort to repeat new words and short phrases, such as “good morning,” during group activities. She enjoys singing songs in her additional language, including the National Anthem, with support during lessons. Although learning sign language is still a little challenging for her, she tries to use a few basic signs to greet others and to say “please” and “thank you” in isiZulu, Afrikaans, and English. Nxalati participates with interest and demonstrates a positive attitude towards exploring different ways to communicate.

Nxalati enjoys participating in counting activities and can confidently count from zero to five independently. She is beginning to recognise and name some numbers with gentle support. During group games, she is developing her understanding of basic mathematical concepts, such as more and less. She enjoys matching shapes and colours and takes pleasure in hands-on activities, including building with blocks. With continued encouragement and exposure to practical counting and problem-solving experiences, Nxalati’s mathematical thinking and confidence will continue to flourish.
