Numerous instances where a simple follow up with a placement would have landed a FCFS or CC. I understand they are overbooked but how do we manage that? Like one follow up phone call from them to a site solved at least 2 classmate’s search to finalize a placement.

theres been multiple instances where i have been communicated different information from DCEs on topics they should have concrete information about and be knowledgeable about - how will this change moving forward?

If something happens with applications you mentioned we’re redirected to our assigned DCE, but would we ever hear anything other than I’m sorry it didn’t work out you need to do the rank list? Especially if it’s out of our program’s control, it feels like it’s a toss up if our efforts are worth it

We recognize you are overbooked, but this part of our education has the largest affect on our education and it feels like it’s falling off from focus. Can there be better mutual respect from DCEs to students that recognize that aspect the same way we need to respect the fact that you are overworked?

I appreciate the transparency with regard to how much work the FCFS require but I feel like that is a message that should be communicated to first years at the beginning of the program. I feel as if our class got the message that FCFS was more or less a guarantee if you sidned up for a site but that seems to have not been the case in many instances.

Rather than weekly personalized updates, is there a way to automate prewritten messages sent via email just to say “email sent” “phone call made” to give students the reassurance they desire.

Multiple students not just myself have been quite upset about how condescending the DCE team replies are, both during meetings and via email. I was wondering what ways can we work together so both parties are more respectful and professional about communication?

Can we have another session with everyone present where students have more time to ask questions?

How will disrespect within conversations between DCE/students change moving forward? As a student, I am fearful of speaking up or advocating for myself when I feel that a DCE is being disrespectful or passive aggressive, which has not happened once and I am not the only one who has had this experience. I feel like in this town hall, it was not addressed. But it was referenced as a main point., we know you care about us but it doesn’t come through in communication often

Application - Did not receive and Updates

May be just a one time scenario, but was told after my submission that I would be updated and can meet later to improve my application. I waited three months between when submitted application until when I heard back directly from site without even knowing my application was submitted. Is there a check list or method in place to ensure that students are being updated about the application process regarding when applications are sent/timelines.

I’m concerned why do I see other peoples information that have nothing to do with my situation in my email? According to student handbook this is a FERPA violation and I’m worried would my personal information being shared with other people without my agreement?

DCE team has the power to essentially determine whether we graduate or not. With everything that has happened, many students are afraid about speaking out regarding issues with the DCE team for fear of repercussions. A lot of students were afraid of listing their grievances because their case was so specific to them that they didn’t want to face any retaliation. There is no clear way to report issues, is there a way we can change that?

Not really a question but something I have noticed. I feel as though every time we meet with the DCEs to voice concerns, we are simply spoken to about why things can’t change rather that making actual points of change that we can track and see if they happen going forward.

Obviously we will give grace for small mistakes such as sending an email with a template or a wrong persons name, but there have been multiple instances of sharing private information about a student with another. What ways do the DCE team hold themselves accountable for these actions?
