I think keeping it a smaller percentage of kids is also smart, make it more "elite"  In turn, make the award a bigger deal.  Maybe to play up the STEM school aspect, something like MOSI field trip or other "bonus" STEM opportunities.  Utilize our spheros, VR viewers, etc.  

Could we get a business partner to sponsor pancake breakfast with parents/family to celebrate? Or ice cream social if after school time is better timeframe for people...

So that would of course mean more 6th and 7th but we have more of them so it would make the greatest since. Students could get an award from more than one teacher in a month... and it's okay to have repeats. We have those high top tables in the cafeteria. Students love the idea. It really makes them feel special. What would be really cool if we have an ice cream treat, etc. for the teacher to give them during lunch. Pictures are cheap. Every student must feel they have a chance to be student of the month. This does not mean we give a trophy to each child. All of our students have strengths in many areas and we should reward that excellence when PRIDE is really demonstrated.
