'You found it?' I nodded. 'And?' I didn't know what to say. I found it and now I can't stop looking? I found it and it had nothing to do with dad? I found it and now I'll wear heavy boots for the rest of my life? 'I wish I hadn't found it" (Foer, 302). The author uses repetition of questions to show how finding answers will not always fill a persons "heavy boots". Once Oskar realizes that the search for the lock is over, he ends up with more questions then he had started with. "My father begged me to stay, I grabbed the doorknob and it took the skin off my hand, I saw the muscles of my palm, red and pulsing, why did I grab it with my other hand?'' (Foer,211). This excerpt includes imagery to allow readers to imagine what his hand looked like in that moment. When the grandpa opened the door he went through so much pain just to find his answers about Anna. By opening the door (answering questions) you are still stuck with questions like "why did I use my other hand" or live with the pain for the rest of life. Oskar feels uncomfortable without being able to fill the void that the loss of his father gave him. Humanity's deepest desire for knowledge is justification enough for our continuing quest. And our goal is nothing less than a complete description of the universe we live in.”  This quote by Stephen Hawking connects to Oskar due to the fact that Oskar always felt the need to find the anwsers to the questions, never leaving one un answered.
