Every year at the track banquet Coach Ron would get choked up talking about the seniors. I loved the man was so calm, cool, and collected, but so emotionally invested in his athletes. He gave us all permission to feel all the good about athletics and life while also embracing the sadness of goodbyes. Coach Ron, I will miss you. We will miss you. Thank you for enriching our lives.

Every experience I ever had with Coach Ron was a wonderful one. He was always quick to offer a handshake and embrace and ask about how I was doing and my family. We would talk about track, football, fishing and many other things. His smile was infectious and I always walked away from our conversations feeling happy that we had talked. Ron genuinely loved his athletes. His passion for his craft was true and it radiated to his kids. Our community, high school and his athletes were lucky to have him. I, personally, feel blessed to have known him. Ron was a great man and his legacy and memory will live on. Thanks for everything Coach. Rest easy.

I was blessed to have met Coach Ron while we were both working the gate at football games. He always had a nice, warm smile. He was a kind, caring man. He touched so many lives which was evident by the high esteem in which everyone held him. We were all very blessed to have this angel in our midst for a time.

To the rest of the world you were Ron Livers, but to us at Perkiomen Valley, you were Coach Ron. I'd keep score and enter results for the PV track meets, and at the end of everyone you'd say "Thanks, Coach" to me; I never had the heart to tell you I wasn't a track and field coach but perhaps because I was out there helping kids in your mind I was. I'll miss your stories about the track and field world of the 70s, how Cabela's has changed since being bought out by Bass Pro Shops, and your positive impacts on students and adults alike. And I'll miss how you helped all of us become better coaches and help students reach their potential, no matter the sport.

Since I am a vaulter I never got to work directly with Coach Ron but that never stopped him from treating me like one of his athletes. Being the kind person he is, Coach would always come over to the runway and offer words of encouragement and just make conversation. It was, and still is something I greatly appreciate. He was not only a coach, but a friend to all of the members of the track team. Rest easy Coach Ron.

I had the pleasure to get to know Coach Ron during my time as an official of the high jump event for PV meets and invitationals. I enjoyed watching and listening to him check in with his high-jumpers, always offering encouraging advice. While I did not get to know him beyond these brief encounters, I could tell how genuine he was and how much he cared for the sport, for his athletes, and for transferring his knowledge and experience to the next generation of all-stars. i just want to say thank you so much coach ron. for everything. i'll never forget the moment you came up to me in 8th grade after my race and said "you got a spark son." i know i'm only 16 years old, but the happiest days of my life were with you. wether it was at practice or at a meet. you gave me a purpose. you inspired me to be the best me i can be. god i wish you were here. there's so much i wanna say. i cannot put into words how thankful I am to have you in my life. you were a good coach, and an amazing man. you were like a father to me. you taught me to be a better man, to do good and be kind. i still can't process everything but i'm trying. i know your up there watching me and everyone else, making sure everyone's good and safe. i'll never forget about you coach. i promise to be the best i can be. i love you so much ron. i can't say it enough but thank you. for everything.

Although I only sprinted as a freshman before joining the distance team for the rest of my time at PV, Coach Ron was always there as an encouragement no matter what event we ran. A great Man and a great Coach

I was never an amazing sprinter, I would always race in the B heat. After the one race Ron’s brother Don walks up to me and says “Hey you are Drew Fox, Ron tells me lots of good things about you!” I was taken back a little because I never thought I was a really great sprinter. So I ask Don “Really?” Out of surprise, and Don continued “Yea, he says you are one of the greatest sprinters on the team and he talks about how you have great potential in it! He thinks you are gonna do very well!” I said thank you and pleasure to meet you to Don and walked away. I thought to myself after, that is what is great about Coach Ron. He sees the greatest potential out of everyone even if they couldn’t see it themselves. During practice I would always ask Coach Ron about his stories as an athlete because he has the most incredible stories to tell. I would be in awe of the incredible things that he has accomplished and after every story he would tell me that I could do incredible stuff like that too I just gotta “Work it!”

That is one of my favorite memories of Coach Ron he would have a high bar for every student and athlete he taught and coached and he would work so hard to help raise everyone around him. He was the most kind caring and compassionate man I have ever met and anyone who met Coach Ron is better off for have knowing him. He always brought out the best in people. He will be dearly missed.

One of the many memories I have of Coach Ron was when him and Adriane brought us an entire cooler container of snacks to get us through the weekend. I remember talking to Adriane about how she was able to keep the fruit and other snacks fresh, and she said she put lemon on it! To this day, I still do this with many of my fruits/vegetables (especially apples). This seems like such a simple story, but I remember the comfort I felt when I saw how engaged and involved Coach Ron and Adriane were in the PVTF family, and the overwhelming assurance I felt from seeing his smiling face everyday at practice & meets where I was able to witness him doing what he loved. It was inspirational.

Coach Ron was an amazing coach, an awesome role model, friend, father figure, and all around a genuine man! He loved all of his athletes as if they were his own children. His positivity lifted up his athletes to strive to be the best that they could be. Ron treated everyone with respect and was a joy to know. I feel honored that I got to know him as well as his wife Adriane. They were such a sweet couple. It is astounding when you think of how many lives Coach Ron has touched. His beaming smile made you smile. I’m thankful that Coach Ron was in my girls’ lives as well as mine. I’m sure he is looking down on all of us and smiling! I can hear him saying “WORK IT”! 🧡

Coach Ron was an amazing coach, athlete, and friend. I think I can speak for everyone when I say he made me the person I am today. Ron believed in every athlete he came across, even the one’s that weren’t on our team. He made it clear that if we kept “working it” big things would be in store for us. I loved many things about Ron, like his quotable sayings, but especially the fact that he encouraged fun. Most athletes wouldn’t get to sing at the top of their lungs in a van on the way to Penn Relays, but we did. Ron would just bop his head along, making the time more enjoyable. Coach Ron’s patience, kindness, and smile, among many other things, will be missed. He will forever be a track legend and part of the PV track family. Work it forever 💪🏻🧡

Coach Ron was the kindest man you would ever meet. He had a smile that was infectious and knew just what to say to cheer you up. I feel so lucky to have had him as my coach. He taught me so much about track and life that I will never forget. He made everyone excited to wake up early on a weekend for a meet and gave you the motivation you needed to succeed. From seeing Coach Ron on the track to seeing him at giant years after I had finished competing and I was only back visiting from college, he never had anything but a smile on his face or a toothpick in his mouth. He always said hello, and made sure that I was doing well. He truly cared about each and everyone he encountered. And all those that were blessed to meet him should cherish that forever. Coach Ron was an amazing coach but an even better person; I am so blessed to have had him as coach and role model during my time on the Perkiomen Valley track team. Despite track not being my first sport, he constantly believed in and pushed me to be the best athlete I could be. One of my favorite memories of Coach Ron was at the indoor track meet The Amory. Being selected as an underclassmen and one of the only ones representing PV in the 200 I was extremely nervous and ended up false starting. I was beating myself up I couldn't stop thinking about how Coach Ron would react and if I had disappointed him. To my surprise he greeted me with a laugh, big hug and just told me to pick myself up and get them next time. The great thing about Coach Ron is that he pushed every athlete to be the best version of themselves without ever making the track and field experience stressful or unenjoyable. Forever will keep the motto to "Work It" with me. Rest Easy Coach Ron you will be missed <3

I knew coach Ron from his coaching days at PVHS. . He had a big influence on my son Sean who now coaches there. I wasn't until later I learned about the tremendous athlete that Ron was.
It was always about the kids for Ron. In 2013 he asked me to send him a few photos. They were mostly of him and the student athletes that he loved working with. I will post a few of them.
He had such a positive influence on so many people. He will be missed.

As a pole vaulter I didn't get to spend much time working with Coach Ron on the track, but I know that my track and field experience would have been entirely different without him. He has had such a huge influence on the culture of PVTF, encouraging everyone on the team to work hard and reach their full potential, and to have a fun time while doing it. I saw Coach Ron at the track a few times during the summer and he would always come over and have a conversation with me to check how things were going. I am so thankful to have gotten to know him and he will be so dearly missed.

My family was so deeply saddened by the loss of Coach Ron. Just as track and field was a big part of our lives, so was Coach Ron. He was humble and gracious even during the fiercest of competitions and always said and did the right thing. He was a model not only of an athlete and a coach but of what we all should strive for as human beings. The kindness, positivity and care he put into what he did would shine through and you could tell that this was his passion. From the weekly meets and invitationals to Penn Relays he was always excited about the sport. He taught his athletes not only the skills to improve at their event but modeled how we should behave as athletes with his integrity and sportsmanship.

Coach, thank you for teaching, inspiring and caring for my children during their track career. We will miss you forever but will take with us all the beautiful memories that we have of you. We offer our deepest sympathy to the Livers family and all the people grieving your loss.

I feel very blessed that you walked into the Perkiomen Valley athletic office 10 years ago looking to officiate. I still don't know if I really believe the good fortune I have had in getting to know you and having a legend in the sport of track and field as a member of my coaching staff.

Coach Ron was a tremendous person and I will miss him greatly. I have enjoyed the time at meets getting to know you and will miss your laughter and sense of humor. I alway enjoyed listening to your stories about the sport and even more so maybe some of your fishing stories. I will be sure to carry on the traditions of making sure to buy some Jelly Bellys for the trips to the State meets and to always get a hot dog from the food truck at the Penn Relays.

Coach Ron had a profound impact on numerous students at Perkiomen Valley and he was proud to be their Coach, often tearing up at the annual track and field picnic when speaking about his graduating student-athletes. Coach Ron’s many sayings and quotes were frequently found on many team T-shirts, such as "Should Hip!" and "The way you practice is the way you perform; The way you perform is the way you practice" and "You have got to pay the cost if you want to be the Boss Baby!"

Our love and gratitude to all of you who shared your memories and the impact that Ronnie had on your lives. Your sentiments are overwhelming! I watched how Coach Ron interacted with so many of you for years. I was always impressed by how easy it was for him to relate to not only his athletes but everyone on the team. I would chuckle when he would shout out a nickname that he had given someone, or how we could be at a football game and a gang of kids would run over to greet him and he knew everyone of them by name. He loved all of you, and it was his desire to make a small difference in your lives. I'm blessed to hear that he succeeded in that and even greater than that. I wish you all the very best in your future endeavors, athletic and otherwise. I'm so proud to have known you, and watch so many of you grow through your high school years.
