In order to communicate in the work place we have to like Early Childhood Educator, we have to work together and agree on things on what plans we will use and discuss.

Working around kids at a daycare, you would need patience as we aren’t looking after 1 child, we have to look after certain amount of kids depending on how many caregivers there are, communicating with children can be difficult but with the help of coworkers can be a big difference while working, not all kids are the same and some need one on one time.

The way we can communicate in early childhood centre is in a respectful professional way, if its about something personal ask to speak to the individual 1 on 1.
Communicating with child/ren in an early childhood centre you should be speaking softly and make it fun and interesting, try to keep their attention drawn to what you want to say. You can also do a hands on fun activity for what you want to speak about to make it more interesting for the child/ren.

As an early childhood educator, we are supporting each other and helping out each other when we need to, we communicate and do the things we need to do, we agree with anything and even when the work is difficult, we still support each other.

As adults living in Nunavut it is likely that we are each strong in one or more languages. Personally, I can express myself best in English however I am proud to be an Inuktitut learner. In an ECE setting and/or when I am working with other adults I try to include Inuktitut. I sometimes wish I were more confident to use full sentences and know that if I do I will progress faster. We should all welcome language learners in our classroom and places of work. In a daycare setting and with my own kids I try to include Inuktitut also. For example, today as the sun came up up I said "Kajjarnaq Ullumi". Maybe that can be a collective goal- to grow in confidence in our language learning (English or Inuktitut)

Make eye contact either with an co-worker and being face to face with a child helps you notice what they are interested in and observe their facial expressions.
Read books, reading books to children exposes them to written language and helps them learn to express their ideas and opinions.
