What I was wondering during the book is like how many other people have facial deformations like him. I believe its probably not a super high number. What I read does make sense because the author used great wording. The questions im asking myself as I read the book are, will he ever get a surgery that can actually make his face look a lot better? The weird question I kept wondering is, what camp did Miranda go to?

The ways I am making connections to the reading is by thinking about how when I was in fifth grade I had a high school sibling and how I was August's age at one point.

What conclusions are you drawing about the events in the book? Well I drew the conclusion from the beginning of the book that August was not very popular with people and that he would be bullied later on. Which ended up being true. I also kind of thought that Via would be kinda the popular but also not super popular normal girl. Which was mostly correct later in the book.

Which passages create the best pictures in your mind’s eye? The passages that create the best images in my mind are of course beginning when the author describes August to the reader. As well as the beginning of all the other parts like, Part 2 Via. Then the end, the whole end of the book with the bigger kids and what not.

What are the main events in the story? The main events in the story are when August says why he doesn't want to go to school, when August hears his mom talking about how she might send him to a public school, when August meets Mr. Tushman, when Summer sits next to August and he meets her, and when August graduates 5th grade and is given an award at the school awards. So the gist of the story is that August is a young boy with facial deformities and he is going to his first day of public school. He has a sister and his parents. He meets friends and gets bullied throughout the story. Overall though August has a good first year of school and goes on a school trip. Then finally, at the end of the book August is given the gravery award by the school.

On Halloween August goes to school with a costume along with everyone else and he hears a kid talk about him badly, later finding out that it was Jack Will. One thing that really surprised me out of nowhere was what Jack Will said about August on page 123. I do think the book is fine for younger kids as well.
