I brainstormed our hashtag #Don'tRiskItForTheBiskit with four teenagers. I felt it was important to gain advice from teenagers as they are part of our target audience and are most likely to use the hashtag on social media.
The brainstorming team also confirmed that the current trend for hashtags is to use capital letters at the start of each word and avoid using numbers such as "4" instead of "For".
The use of the word "Biskit" (spelt incorrectly to match "RiskIt", a marketing ploy), symbolises the scenario of a stranger offering a child a biscuit to lure them away to an unsafe place but represents all dangers we are highlighting.
#Don'tRiskItForTheBiskit is a play on the phrase "Risk it for the biscuit" which, according to Urban Dictionary (2016), was first used in a dice game "10,000" at Jamezy's on October 21st, 2013. A player "J" was considering playing it safe on his last turn, to keep his 500 points, however, if he rolled the dice and got a '1' or a '5' he could then roll all six dice again and improve his score. Below is a transcript of the conversation.

J: I think I'm gonna stop and keep the 500 points.
A: Naw man, risk it for the biscuit! The sexiest of biscuits!
J: LOL alright... I'M RISKIN IT FO DA BISCUIT!

"Risk it for the biscuit" is now a common phrase among young people and means "take a chance for the reward". Our message is not to take a chance on certain things.

A branded emoji is a custom-designed image which will appear when a certain hashtag is used. According to Twitter's marketing web page (2017) branded emojis paired with a video advert will bring six times more emotional connection and interest. Videos are six times more likely to be retweeted than photos and three times more likely to be retweeted than GIFs. The tweet that launches our #Don'tRiskItForTheBiskit branded emoji (a chocolate chip cookie) needs to focus on the hashtag and emoji with short and sharp content. We also need to direct our audience in how they should use the hashtag, by inviting conversation, answering a question or retweeting. My suggestion would be to invite participants to take photos of themselves at our events using the hashtag and enter a photo competition, with fantastic prizes on offer. Figure 1 is an example of a branded emoji launch by Samsung.

Why Stranger Danger?

As a few ideas were suggested, one that caught all of our eyes and felt like we could do the most with was, of course, Stranger Danger. We all wanted to work with a topic that aided, educated and benefited everyone within our community, and it quickly became clear that "Stranger Danger" was a topic that we all cared for and felt passionate about. As conversation flowed between the members of our group, we decided to create a campaign for children, teenagers and adults with workshops suggested by everyone and coordinated and designed by some of our group members that target each specific age group. As we all know, it isn't only children that are at risk of being in danger from strangers.
With the integration of the World Wide Web into everyone's lives; children, teens and especially adults are all at a huge risk of being in a dangerous situation if we aren't careful with what we do online. With the new occurrences of online sexual predators, online fraud and scamming, and catfishing through online dating sites, it is clear that everyone is exposed to online strangers and that some educating about these modernised dangers needs to occur for everyone.
The workshops being organised for each target audience and include a drawing contest for the children, with the prize for the winner's drawings to be compiled into a calendar. A Constable Care speaker is also going to attend the children's event involving a live interactive puppet show informing children in an age-appropriate way about the dangers of strangers, and how to be safe and seek help if needed. For the teenage event, a skating competition is going to be held with roaming Red Frog volunteers walking around just chatting to the teenagers attending this event and handing out biscuits to fall in with our catchy headline and hashtag #Don'tRiskItForTheBiskit. For the adult event, there's going to be a self-defence demo combined with guest speaker Mike House who talks about adapting to life threatening and survival situations. Paul Litherland is going to be a guest speaker for all three of the events as the basis for his safety awareness is being safe online, and he tailors his talks depending on the age group that he is serving as he does talks for those of all ages.
We want to have fun with our community on this event whilst also creating the awareness of Stranger Danger, just so that if anyone who attends this event does face any danger, they can hopefully be reminded of something they were told or something that they learned on this day and be reminded of the possible dangers of the situation they may be facing. Let's look after each other and remember #Don'tRiskItForTheBiskit!

To make this event inclusive for people of all ages I have organised activities for Adults and Children that will be run throughout the week.
For the children I have set up a competition involving various primary schools in the north of the river district of Perth, in which the students have to create 'safety awareness' posters that are both informative and creative, these posters will be entered into a competition within the school to decide the best suited candidate that will represent their school community in a 'safety awareness' 2018 calander which I will put together and sell on the final event day of the week-long event. All proceeds for this calander will go towards the 'Constable care child's safety foundation'.

The Adult event will have a 'fun day' theme, where adults will partake in sack races, egg and spoon races, three legged races and best dressed costume contests. The idea of this event is to remind adults of how happy and careless they were as children so that they can work together to create a world where their own children can grow up feeling as safe and happy as they did. Each race will cost $5 to enter, with all proceeds going to the 'Constable Care child's safety foundation'.

Teen Event - Location/Date/Application Guidelines

When considering how to reach our target audience of teenagers, the consensus among the group was to hold a skate competition during Children's Week (Oct 21-29, 2017). We selected our location (Oxford Street, Leederville) for many positive factors. Firstly, its accessibility - being close to Leederville train station and centrally located in the city of Perth - makes it very easy for teenagers to travel via public transport from all areas. Secondly, there is already a skate ramp located in Oxford Street with parkland surrounding the area, allowing space for food vans and our roaming volunteers. Thirdly, Oxford Street regularly holds events and the street is often closed to traffic, a precedent to give us an opportunity to do the same if needed. Lastly, Oxford Street is a youthful shopping/cafe precinct, a hip place to meet friends and have coffee or browse trendy clothing/music stores (figure 2), making it a desirable location for teenagers to meet, attend our event, then flow on to nearby attractions. As the event coordinator, I would need to apply to hold the event through the City of Vincent using their "Event and Festival Info Pack" as a guide. In order to meet the city's requirements including traffic control, waste management, noise control, first aid, security, fees, application process/timelines, management plan requirements, bump in/out and more, this information pack would need to be followed diligently by a team of people.

On social media, it is important to establish relationships with other account holders. It would be valuable to sign an ambassador contract with a popular teen idol such as Troye Sivan, a local Perth singer/songwriter/vlogger enjoying international success. In 2015, Sivan had 3.1 million-plus YouTube subscribers following his weekly vlog updates, 2.4 million Twitter followers, 2.1 million Instagram fans and 1.3 million Facebook followers. If Sivan was to use our hashtag in his social media posts, our campaign would gain an immediate global audience. Signing Troye Sivan up to sing at our skate competition would draw his fan-base to the event and add appeal.

Safety Messages for Teens

The group formed the following six safety messages as the type of messages we would like to communicate to our teen audience.
1. Keep An Ear Out - when walking or exercising alone, only listen to music with one earphone, so that the other can listen for vehicles/footsteps. Masa Vukotic (age 17) lost her life while listening to music while out walking in Melbourne, 2015.
2. Self-Defence - strongly consider doing a self-defence course to learn how to protect yourself if you do find yourself attacked.
3. Hitchhiking? Nuh-Uh! - 17-year-old Hayley Dodd went missing while hitchhiking near Badgingarra WA in 1999. Solo females are particularly at risk. Another example is 17-year-old Kate Moir, who was picked up by a couple (serial killers David and Catherine Birnie) in 1986, held captive and very luckily escaped.
4. Wait With A Mate - you're the second last to be picked up from a group outing, your mate will be left alone, waiting for their lift. What do you do?
5. See Them Home Safely - when dropping friends home, don't drive away as soon as they leave the car. Wait, watch and make sure they get inside safely. Example: the McCulkin case, Brisbane 1974. Two teenage sisters attended a party across the street from their home. One sister walked home early. The other walked home at 10 pm. The friend watched her but didn't see any lights on at the house, nor did she hear any noise.
6. Cyber Safety - how to stay safe while using social media and internet chat rooms, with tips drawn from reputable sources such as Youth Central.

Red Frogs Australia is an organisation that provides support to festivals and events, notably for "Schoolies Week" when Year 12 students leave high school (see Figure 4). Red Frogs have a fantastic reputation with young people across Australia and would be the perfect group to roam our teen event and pass out safety messages, branded cookies and water. As the teen event coordinator, I would delegate the invitation of the walking volunteers to Luka. However, I would be involved in preparing agreements, training, logistics and materials for the volunteers on the day. It would be ideal for our volunteers to wear #Don'tRiskItForTheBiskit t-shirts/jackets with the word "VOLUNTEER" on the back with hi-vis sections on the material to keep them safe. However, this would require negotiation with Red Frogs to discuss the inclusion of their logo and their promotional guidelines.

My role and contribution towards our community Stranger Danger event includes organising and constructing the media releases for relevant organisations such as the local newspaper and websites that inform the community of local events occurring; writing the introduction for the Padlet page; and choosing which speakers to invite for each event. As we have separate events for children, teenagers and adults then there have been multiple speakers to choose from and organise that have to be suitable for the audience in which they are addressing. I would also (if the event were real) construct a letter similar to the information included within the media release to send out to local schools and shops etc. to gain awareness of the event.

For the children's part within our event, I thought that getting a Constable Care speaker in would be the best and most suitable. Through incorporating an interactive live performance for the children using a puppet, singing and dancing; this guest speaker ensures that they are providing relevant messages of personal and community safety education through a way in which engages young children, and gets them involved in the matter but in a fun way that they can relate to and understand.

As Christy has organised the teen event she has already included the relevant information about the guest speakers that I have organised; Red Frog Volunteers. As Christy has mentioned these volunteers are involved in Schoolies/Leavers as well as a lot of festivals to ensure the safety of young adults attending. Due to their experience, I think that they'd be a great fit due to the rapport that they are used to building with that generation. Having them walk around chatting and sharing their experiences through volunteering will really help teenagers to gain awareness of what can happen if they're in a dangerous or unsafe situation and will hopefully encourage many to continue to make wiser decisions and to help others do the same.

The speaker that I have invited for the adult workshop is Mike House; who runs multiple different speaking and workshop sessions that can be tailored to the specific event. What he is best known for is his workshop called "Guerrilla Mindfulness"; which he uses to provide his audience with strategies that instigate what he calls 'effective action'; and again is tailored to the circumstance and subject of the workshop in which he is guest speaking. He works with people to teach them how to be adaptable in ANY given situation; whether you're struggling within your business, or you're trying to kick-in those survival instincts lost in the Australian bush. Not only does his professional involvement include speaking and workshops - which based on reviews touch every single person - male and female - who attends them; but he leads retreats for groups who feel like they need to get back to nature and learn a few things about themselves and about true survival.
Mike himself has been through multiple situations where his life has been threatened - always looking for new things to put himself through with a minimal amount of aiding supplies to push himself further and continue to test his survival skills and instincts. Knowing all of this, I thought he would be the perfect inspiration for adults to provide support, information and encouragement; and also to inspire those who may deem themselves as "weak" that we are all capable of surviving, we just need to know the strategies to do so.

Final Guest Speaker - To attend all ages

Paul Litherland was the first person who came to mind when I knew my contribution to this project was to invite the guest speakers; as he is someone who I have witnessed in action at my high school and I will never forget. His safety awareness is all to do with being safe whilst being online - one of the most important safety awareness aspects of stranger danger. Paul Litherland caters his talks depending on the age group he is addressing - and has attended primary schools, high schools, aged care facilities, business groups, sporting clubs and more. Being an ex-police officer; he used to construct a lot of stranger danger safety awareness talks alongside the Constable Care program, and has also worked specifically with children and their families who have been victims of online crime; which is why he has begun to make a change and create awareness of the dangers of being online as he felt that there was little-to-no knowledge for so many of us. Realising that there wasn't a lot to go with in regards to resources for internet safety awareness; so begun creating his own presentations based upon the vast knowledge he had gained through his 20+ years experience. His presentations were so successful, impressive and informative that he found himself gaining a well-known reputation and being asked to a lot of schools and other educational facilities.

My first point of contact for organising a skate competition would be the Australian Skateboarding Federation (ASF).
Part of the ASF's Modus Operandi is to empower others by "facilitating, supporting and empowering other entities to deliver skateboard events and programs." They also provide assistance with insurance "through an Australian Skateboard Federation group insurance policy."
Renton Millar, (pictured in figure 5), is a key member of the ASF and would be the main contact. According to his profile on the About Us section of the ASF website,

"Renton Millar has been skateboarding for almost thirty years and is a former World Cup Champion (Vert, 2009) and former Australian Champion (Bowl, 2012).
He was voted in the top 25 Most Influential Australian Skaters of the past 25 years by Slam Magazine (2014) and in the top 25 Most Influential Australian Skateboarders by The Skaters Journal (2005)....
Renton also organised the largest Australian only contest series with a purse of $80,000, the Mountain Dew Battle for Supremacy in Sydney and Melbourne in 2009.
Renton is also an accomplished MC, has been a regular contributor to Slam Magazine, as well as having his own TV show on Fuel TV from 2004 to 2014 called Bailgun Diary. Renton has also hosted many TV specials such as Bondi Bowlarama."

If Renton Millar was to put his name to the event and attend in person, our event would gain acceptance in the skateboarding community and our campaign would gain international attention.
As an example of Renton Millar's support for small events, see below article in the Hills News, released on 22nd September 2014, where Millar attended the launch of a new skate park. http://www.hillsnews.com.au/story/2576632/australian-skateboard-legend-renton-millar-ollies-into-cherrybrook/

The dictionary definition of community is 'a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common', however if I was to rephrase this definition of 'community' in relation to the aim of our event it would be: 'A group of people from any background coming together with the common goal of educating and bringing awareness to the creation of a safer environment for people of all ages'. The intention of our event is to create a safer world for adults to live in and for children to grow up in, responsible living is an issue that is constantly overlooked in todays society as 'street smarts' are viewed as something that is picked up through life rather than specifically talked about. Although we are all taught to not touch a needle on the ground, or to not talk to strangers, we are rarely taught what to do if either situation were to arrise. The aim of this event is to bring awareness to people of all ages, of the severity of responsible living and how we can work together as a community to create a safe and happy world that all generations of families can live, work, and strive in.

My role in the event was to create a website and any graphics to go along with it plus T-shirt and merchandise designs that would be for sale on the website and at the events. The website was decided on being a blog style so updates and tips could be posted regularly to keep people update with what was happening with our event and stranger danger in general. For the volunteer shirts and cookie packaging there would be one design and logo to tie in with the website. But for shirts and mugs that would be for sale at the event there would also be different designs to meet the different interests of people attending.

The website was decided on to be mainly a blog with static pages with information about the campaign and about stranger danger. It would also include an area where the public could post and discuss anything related to it.
The website would be a similar layout to either of these two;
http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/blog
http://www.brit.co/
With a colour scheme inspired by cookies. Many stranger danger based websites out there are just white with black text so I felt something different was needed to make it more interesting and memorable.
Pale browns for the backgrounds/table background and a nice chocolate brown for the font. The red for any thin borders to act as a highlight. To break up the brown tones and represent the "danger" of our campaign.

The main theme of the hashtag is biscuits, or cookies, so a cookie design is being used for a majority of the logos and packaging. It would be used for the packaging of the cookies for sale at events and for merchandise as well. But it's main idea is to tie in with the website and hashtag. To bind it all together with it's sugary goodness.
One design would feature a large choc chip cookie with the hashtag spelt out on it in choc chips. A spinoff idea of this design is frosting instead of choc chips that spell out the hashtag.
Similar to the following image but with more words made of chocolate. Also few colours to keep costs down on printing.
Clipartall.com. Vector Choc Chip Cookies. 2017.

A really popular Netflix series is called Stranger Things. It has very distinctive font for the title screen. After checking the copyright restrictions for the font a shirt could be designed with similar font. Only it would say "Stranger Danger" instead.
The design could be used for T-shirts, hoodies, tote bags and mugs. With the campaign logo included on the sleeve of the shirt or on the back of the mug.
Below is an image of the stranger things font style created with an online generator. But again, it would need to be checked on the copy writes of the type font.
Makeitstranger.com. Stranger Things Font. 2017.

This design features the age old box trap. A simple box resting on a stick that has a string tied to it to pull the stick clear. The design would have a cookie under the box and the hashtag spelt out by the string or written on the side of the box. I really like the simplicity of the reference image and would have the design similar to that.
FrankRamspott. Box Trap Carrot Rope Drawing - Illustration. 2014. iStock.
