This is a descriptive essay, which means you need to describe vividly using the show and not tell technique (e.g. describing through your 5 senses, similes and metaphors).

Consider the following:
1. What is this possession? How can you describe it?

2. Why can't you part it? (e.g. the intangible reasons like how you feel about, the memories you have with it)

3. What good vocabulary can you use? Please create a separate post for word bank.

1.
a fountain pen, gifted by my grandfather:
I remember, when i was five years old, i was handed over an extravagant-looking fountain pen by my grandfather. It was massive in my tiny pair of hands, and it weighed a ton! I looked at it closely and examined the fine carvings on this bizarre pen. What was this? It had beautiful engravings on the metal tip of the pen. The shell of the pen was smooth and shiny, and it was a midnight black colour. It was the strangest thing I had ever seen in my life! An even unusual thing about this pen, is the way you write with it. You had to angle it a certain way in order for a right amount of ink to come out of the paper. Many times, I could not get the ink to flow properly, causing ink to ooze out onto the paper, making a huge black blotch on it. Then, I would feel exasperated, but strangely, it was the same reason I love this fountain pen. Another reason would be that it was gifted by my late grandfather. He loved to write, and I loved to read his writings. I still do. Every Friday evening, I would run to his house to

1) The one possession i cannot part with is an antique passed down to me by someone special, a necklace with a silver key. The key is still in pristine condition, its' coating of gold still unscathed. It would always hang on my neck every day, regardless of rain or shine. Each time I examine the key, running my finger across every single letter carved into the key, spelling the word "fatum", latin for "fate". The inscription would seem trivial to others, but to me, it means more than I could imagine.
2) When I was still a child, my parents and I had moved to Japan due to business that required immediate attention from my father. There, I would always sprint to the fields on the mountains close to my home everyday. The green pasture was always deserted, until a mysterious girl suddenly appeared on the fields after a week. I adored her, from her flawless movements and prefect imperfections. We would play in the tall grass every day, and that was all that was needed to keep us contented. However, months turned to weeks, and weeks into days. We had to part, after the best few months of my life. On my final day in Japan, she passed me a key, the exact same one that I still wear to this day. We swore to each other that should we ever meet again, my key would be a means for us to identify each other, for my key would unlock the lock on her own respective necklace.
