2. An estimated 2 billion speak some form of English, and most of those have the American variety as their model.
3. TNCs such as Pixar and Disney are influencing children all over the world, however they are trying to glocalise their entertainment
4. Hollywood - it is a big deal for actors and directors to get recognised by large awards such as the Oscars, this is because people care about what the Americans think of them. This is the same with music industry such as when the beetles broke America.
5. · He ignored the pleas of allies at the G7 Summit

· He responded to the London Bridge terror attack with twitter attacks on the Muslim London Mayor Sadiq Khan – threatens the alliance between USA and the UK

Membership in international organisations that allow it to exert its influence - e.g. UN and Bretton Woods Institutes. The historical role the US has had in these ie in their creation gives them dominance over them today. Through the UN, the US can affect international politics to its advantage and spread ideas and values that it considers beneficial. Through the IMF and World Bank, the US can direct the global economy, especially through the influence it can gain in the economies of less developed countries with conditional loans.

The economic capabilities of the US give it political influence. it can use foreign aid as a good way of ensuring cooperation from nations around the world, and so build up its influence in several different countries. The dependency theory backs up USA's role as a hyperpower as Frank states that developed countries control development of developing nations by setting prices for paid commodities, involvement in economies such as WB and IMF, and the ability to use military aid to receive loyalty of smaller states
