The freedom Writers connect to some of the subject matter we were touching on English class, such as racism and race conflict. One example is the conflict between the different races at the school such as between the Latinos and Cambodians. This is similar to the set of texts we covered about Martin Luther King and racial injustice, while they are about different race groups. Both the film and what we learned in class is similar because they cover the racial tension between the different groups and the violence that comes out as a outcome of it such as the assassination of MLK and the drive-by shooting in the film, and eventually try work to fix tension between those groups and unite them together under one cause.

This movie is about a school that is racially divided. A teacher that is in charge of a class that is harder for them to learn, she gives them supplies that inspire them to not give up and keep going. This connects to something that we are learning in English by showing the teacher emotions by her giving them supplies to keep going. Her emotions are example of pathos because the teacher is trying to show us she cares about her students.
