         <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello, we are Team 1. We believe that universal design is not just for people with disabilities, but for everyone, and that it can truly fulfill the hype surrounding it. So we traveled around the school and experienced first-hand the challenges faced by people with disabilities, and we developed four solutions to assist them. Let's get started with our presentation."</p><p><br>We found that the hallways don’t have any markings to show the way, making it hard for new students or those with intellectual disabilities to navigate. Additionally, there are no resources to assist visually impaired students who have some sight.</p><p><br/></p><p>Since there are no markings or maps in the hallways, newcomers and individuals with disabilities, including the visually impaired, struggle to find their way around. </p><p><br/></p><p>Therefore, the first solution to the problem of navigation in the hallways is to install brightly colored directional stickers to help visually impaired individuals and newcomers find their way.</p><p><br/></p><p>To ensure easy access for wheelchair users, we should install ramps, wider doorways, and elevators. Non-slip sidewalk blocks and Braille blocks should also be installed. Providing mobility assistance services or volunteer programs can help individuals with disabilities reach their destinations. Furthermore, it is essential to ensure that necessary facilities, such as special classrooms or restrooms for individuals with disabilities, are always available.</p><p>To maintain safety in the school, walkways should be kept clear of obstacles, and a safety plan for emergencies should be established. One solution I propose is to install handrails in hallways and cafeterias. Individuals with physical disabilities may have difficulty moving around, and those who are blind or visually impaired may struggle to navigate. Handrails can help them move easily and find their way.</p><p>Another solution I found is to place Braille maps in the corridors for newcomers and visually impaired individuals. With Braille maps, individuals with visual impairments can understand the layout of the school and feel more comfortable navigating it. This will also help blind individuals interpret the maps, enhancing their sense of security. This is the second solution I would like to present.</p><p>So far, we have introduced solutions to address the needs of individuals with physical disabilities and first-time visitors to the school. I believe that if schools adopt these solutions, they will become much more accessible and convenient. That concludes my presentation. Thank you!</p>]]></description>

Today, we will identify dangerous areas in our school, propose universal design solutions for those areas, and present our design. Let's get started with our presentation, “Adding Universal Design to Our School.”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>(임석현) Here are three main problems we've found with the auditorium. First, the stairs in the auditorium are too narrow for many people to go up and down at the same time. Secondly, the stairs only have handrails on one side, which makes it difficult for people, especially the elderly and children, to use the stairs safely. Finally, there are no ramps at all, so people who use wheelchairs have great difficulty accessing the auditorium.
