It also shows his obsession with her because he thought that she is sleeping and started to cuddling up to her but for real she was dead. The writer uses the dialogue to show Hetahcliffs obsession to mrs.lincoln. He didn't disturbed anyone but for real he did and he should not disturb dead person.

The writer uses dialogue to show the character of Heathcliff, we know this because Heathcliff shows his obsession to Mrs Linton by ordering the sexton to dig up her grave and place it somewhere else. After Nelly is worried about Heathcliff disturbing Mrs Linton he doesn't see it in that way, Mrs Linton is incessantly (constantly) in her thoughts and now wants to be with her. My response is quite shocked as you don't dig someone up because your so in love you'd rather let them rest, however it shows his obsession to Mrs Linton is strong.

Diologue shows his actions and how his character is obsessed with Catherine. Heath cliff ordered the sexton to move lintons grave, and so this means he's not a nice person. Heathcliff doesn't care about mr Linton "not lintons side, damn him!". This all shows his obsession by the way he's talking about what he's done and he doesn't believe he desterbed her because she has been disturbed him by always being there is his thoughts and feelings and so he just wants to be with her physically not just mentally. In order to keep himself sane almost he would convince himself that she wasn't dead. "If she be cold, I'll think it's the north wind, if she be motionless then it is sleep" this shows he won't let himself to think that she's dead. The shock of him digging her up shows his obsession is just taking over and he's lost control and all he's thinking about is being with her even though shes dead.

In the extract Heathcliff shows his wired obsession with Catherine when he talks about digging up Catherine's grave to nelly. Not only does he dig her up himself later on in the the extract "I got a spade from the tool-house, I began to delve with all my might", but he also bribes the 'sexton' to move Mr. Lintons grave so that Heathcliff can be buried next to her with is obviously not enough for someone like Heathcliff that is taking his obsession with her to the next level. This provokes a reader response because we (the readers) start to question what he is doing and why he is doing it.
