Have you ever been scared to say what you think in class because what others may say, and if not do you know someone who has? How can we, as future teachers encourage quiet students to participate comfortably?

What I gotta be scared for? I suppose that I have known some folks who have, but, and I'm gonna be honest, if you're letting yourself be silenced by yourself then fam did you really wanna speak? And if so, why ya holding back? I guess as a teacher it would help if they were to y'know like interact with smaller groups because that way they feel more comfortable in the setting. The way I see it, you gotta stand up for what ya wanna say. If not then stay quiet because your passion isn't enough to be deemed satisfactory for the hard journey at hand.

I feel like everyone has a bit of insecurity instilled in them, varying between students. This can make the amount of fear greater in certain students when it comes to talking out in class, but as teachers, you can encourage a positive environment as opposed to a negative one. This will allow some quieter kids to feel more secure and able to come out of their shell and speak their minds.

I am a pretty open book; I speak if I want to speak and if I don’t feel like giving my input, then I won’t. Some students probably struggle because they feel threatened or pressured, and we as teachers should strive to make the environment more comfortable. We should make everyone’s opinion welcome.

I've always been a quite student and rather been in my head. More often then not I've found myself embarassed when I've given an answer in class, not because people meant to hurt me, but they way they jokingly responded hit home the wrong way. Now, im kind of having to relearn how to not be afraid. I think we need to be more careful how we respond to other students.
