The importance of a single note in regards to how it is an important musical element in all different kinds of music is how a single note can be unique depending on what song it's used for. It's different when it comes to more than one note because with multiple notes you have a structure that may or may not have already been played before, or potentially will be repeated. I agree with what Ratliff was saying when he mentioned that when a single note is played, it cannot be played in the exact same way in another song. Ratliff uses the song "Thelonious" from his playlist as a primary example of what a single note would look like. Ratliff describes the eight-bar stretch in the solo as "just past the point of being comfortable." In the song Bryson Tiller "Don't" there is a long note that is in he middle of the song.
