Can You Change Your Mindset?

Yes, depending on the situation I believe that you can change your mindset. Once when I began my first serving job I was told a great deal of things about how I wasn't "fast enough" at ringing in orders. The only way I could become better was to focus my efforts on becoming faster and more knowledgeable. I can't allow my superiors to think that I'm not capable.

Do You Have A Choice?

Of course! You can always choose whether or not to take the criticism the right way, or to let it bother you. As I mentioned above, I could have let my superior's criticisms bother me. If I had done that, then I might have failed.

Can You Talk Back To Your Mindset In A Growth Mindset Voice?

Yes. First you have to assess the situation. In my case, my speed was lacking and my superior was criticizing me for not being as fast as was expected. I didn't want to hear my boss telling me, "Ben, you can't succeed as a server if you don't speed things up." but sometimes you have to stand back and listen. I had to say to myself "Ben, all you have to do is be quicker. Walk faster, talk faster, know the menu better."

How Can You Take Growth Mindset Action?

First and foremost you must improve yourself. When the voice inside your head is telling you that you need to listen in order to amend the situation your in, you must listen to it. In my case, I had to study the menu, and become faster. You cannot improve if you don't take action.
