When it comes to mathematics and measuring the length or width of something, we have to be precise! This means we have to be very careful with how we measure an object and we always have to start from the same point on the ruler. (We always start from the 0 (zero) line on the ruler.

- I need to emphasize the importance of always being exact with measurements in my lesson - students may not be precise in their measurements of objects in activities if they are not practicing the idea of precision
- Students may struggle with the concept of using rulers which have numbers versus using abstract materials such as paper clips to measure objects, it is important for me as a teacher to show them why it is important to know how to use both to measure length.
