https://padlet.com/mp16145/mim89grrpk59 While working on this project I wanted to heavily focus on the different cities within California and how there are suburban-like aspects and urbanized areas. Some basic ideas I had while starting this project were, what is my theme and how I wanted to accomplish that theme. I then wanted to outline some artistic goals that I would want to focus on in my photographs. While taking the photos, I thought about what I was trying to achieve and whether my photos followed my artistic goals. When I was editing some thoughts that had gone through my head were how to improve the quality or uniqueness of my photos without going too overboard. My greatest strength in this piece was my ability to edit my photos with subtly and allow the photos to create a different type of mood. For example, in my Henley Gate photo, I edited the photo in a way to contrast the different colors of the flowers and the gate itself to create a subtle warm mood. I don’t really find myself as a great photographer but I can see what small improvements I can make to an image in order for it to appear better holistically. If I were to change anything in my photo series I would want to change the theme and make my theme more specific because as I had gotten to take more photos I started to focus on a specific idea while many of the photos I had taken at the start followed my broader theme. In most of my other art pieces, I like to focus on main points that draw attention to a certain area and I continued that same focus in my photo series. I wanted to capture a particular object or place and build the scenery around the objects. In a lot of my drawing work or painting, I mainly focus on the main subjects in each piece and not necessarily work too heavily on the background work. My South Lake Avenue photo focuses heavily on the sign itself and the image has a lot of weight around the sign portion of image. In my photo series, I felt that I had accomplished most of what I wanted to set out. I wanted to bring a sense of familiarity in these photos and the lifestyle that comes with Los Angeles.
