The people of Salem believed that the devil was alive, well, and working against them among their community. All questions virtually boiled down to one answer being "The Devil". This was their belief in the cause for everything negative in their community. Beliefs also afflicted by witchcraft exhibited certain symptoms. This was a time of troubles and depression. Teenagers in these days had very few options of entertainment and activities to do such as work and bible reading.

To summarize the Salem witch trials, a group of puritans had a strong set a beliefs. They were Calvinists. Calvinism is a belief that you are born a sinner. You can see the originator of that belief in the picture of that tab. In the puritans tab you can see a group of Puritans that are very happy to make it to the new-land. Their goal was to make a city upon a hill, as you can see in that specific tab. This was a glorious goal that would take years of struggle to complete with the witchcraft trials. In the picture for the "Witchcraft" tab, you can see a very mysterious witch. This was a very horrific crime in Salem, Massachusetts and was punishable by death. Some causes of witch hysteria was the act of the devil, some puritans believed. Everything negative that happened was blamed on the devil. Women would lie in court to be free, as everyone was to save themselves. You can see a witch preying among a group a small girls.
