The teacher laid out a line on the carpet on day and let the children play with it. The next day the teacher added segments to the line. The following day the teacher added number cards for the children to play with. This activity allowed the children to play with position and quantity on the number line. The teacher was surprised how easy it was to teach math when students understood the idea of the number line. This lead into learning about the life cycle. On one day the students will build their community. There will be a match game where the students have to sort all the different attributes to the correct community worker.
