By Sue Wallman
Genre: Horror
Skye's sister, Louisa, died when a man involved in her business disagreed with something she did and causes her to drown tragically. So Skye then goes to a holiday camp for bereaved kids. However, someone has started to send her messages on a private chat, claiming to be her sister. Not only does she have that mystery to solve, but Joe, a boy at the camp, there because of a dead girlfriend, has something sinister going on with one of Skye's room mates, called Fay. Can she solve both mysteries and possibly save a life??
I liked this book because the author does a good job of showing the character's emotions and inspiring show don't tell, and so many interesting WOW words. I have a favorite part, where Skye went on an orienteering activity, and took a secret path away from the camp along with her friend, Brandon, and made wheat angels in the field, and just had fun and relaxed.
Score: 8

This means they LEGIT fell through the actual storybook. Then they meet Froggy. A frogman who just so happens to have a way to get back home...But, not so fast. It requires a wishing spell. And the wishing spell requires special ingredients. Like? Um, like Cinderella's slipper, Sleeping Beauty's spindle, a chunk of Red Riding Hood's basket, a sea dagger in the depths of a thornbush that yanks anyone who comes too close inside to the very bottom, and impossible feat after impossible feat to perform. That was before their troubles started (yes, that was nothing compared to what's going to come now). The Big Bad Wolf gang are after them, and no, they will NOT be as easily defeated as Red Riding Hood's wolf. Well, as dramatic stories go, it would be his enemy/the school jerk. But, no, it's his former best friend Morgan Sturtz, now turned (biased/only to Morgan) enemy. Meaning that as usual fights go you are hurt physically. And, ya, probably it's a big blow to ya ego. But, this will be the toughest fight. Sam is only recovering from TAMADE (The Absolutely Most Amazing Day Ever, which is the day they split up, so maybe not so awesome?). As a result, he is holding back, and consulting his friends frantically for solutions. Will having to face AND fight his friend take the biggest blow ever to his already out of control emotions, or can Amy his crush get him out of this sticky, sticky, mess? And the most intriguing question: Will Sam ever find the reason why he broke up with Morgan, or will he remain in mystery?
I liked this book because it can just show how much people can mean to you, and that Sam is a good person all the way through, even though difficulties like fighting your best friend are thrown in the way, he believes that Morgan is his friend and he simply cannot fight him.
Score: 8

A young woman named Sophie Hatter is the eldest of three sisters living in the town of Market Chipping in the magical kingdom of Ingary, where many fairytale are really ways of life, including that the eldest of three will never be successful. Sophie is able to unknowingly talk life into inanimate objects. As the eldest, she is resigned to the "fact" that she will have no chance of finding her fortune, accepting that she will have a dull life running the family hat shop. One day, however, the powerful Witch of the Waste turns her into an old crone. Sophie leaves the shop and finds work as a cleaning lady for the notorious Wizard Howl. She strikes a bargain with Howl's fire-demon, Calcifer: if she can break the contract between Howl and Calcifer, then Calcifer will return her to her original youthful form. Part of the contract, however, stipulates that neither Howl nor Calcifer can tell her anything about it. Sophie tries to guess the specifics of the contract, while Calcifer supplies frequent hints which she usually does not pick up.

Sophie soon learns that Howl, a rather self-absorbed, dishonest but ultimately good-natured person, spreads malicious rumours about himself to ensure his privacy and to avoid work and responsibility. The door to his castle is actually a portal that opens onto four different places: the moving castle in the hills above Market Chipping, the seaside city of Porthaven, the royal capital of Kingsbury and Howl's boyhood home in Wales where he was named Howell Jenkins. Howl's apprentice Michael Fisher runs most of the day-to-day affairs of Howl's business, while Howl chases his ever-changing ladies. Martha, the youngest, was sent to study magic, while the middle sister, Lettie, was apprenticed at a local bakery. Magically disguising herself as Lettie, Martha arranged for the two of them to switch places, as Fanny (Martha's mother and Sophie and Lettie's stepmother) did not take their wishes into account when arranging their apprenticeships.

When Prince Justin (the King's younger brother) goes missing while searching for Wizard Suliman, the King orders Howl to find Suliman and Justin and kill the Witch of the Waste. Howl, however, has his own reasons to avoid seeking a confrontation with the Witch of the Waste; has laid a dark curse on him. Howl continues to avoid her until she lures Sophie into a trap: believing that the Witch has taken Howl's current love interest, Lily Angorian, captive, Sophie goes to save her and is captured by the Witch. Howl spends an abnormal amount of time in the bathroom every day, and Michael had told Sophie that the day Howl does not spend hours making himself look beautiful for a girl is when he will truly believe that Howl is in love. So when Howl comes to save Sophie, unshaven and a mess, it proves his love for her. He kills the Witch and reveals that Miss Angorian was actually the Witch's fire demon in disguise; the fire demon had taken control of the Witch and was attempting to create a "perfect human" by fusing parts of Wizard Suliman and Prince Justin. It was to be completed by the addition of Howl's head. They have to save everyone, but will they make it?
I really, really liked this book because of all the humor!!!!
Score: I gave it a 10 because it is one of my favorite books, being about magic and all that

By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (well, this is actually stories put in by Jonathan Stroud, published by Penguin Classics)
This is a little part of the most amazing series of Sherlock Holmes. The stories are, in order,
The Adventure of the Speckled Band,
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle
The Musgrave Ritual
The Reigate Puzzle
Silver Blaze
The Adventure of the Dancing Men
The Adventure of the Six Napoleons
The Missing Three-Quarter
I have to admit that though the stories were amazing and unpredictable, my very favourite part, whenever I pick up this book, is reading the introduction (by Jonathan Stroud). These are my favourite phrases
"Never read a Sherlock Holmes? Watch out, then. Here's how it goes.
You begin in the detective's rooms at 221B, Baker Street. Holmes and his friend Watson are sitting by the fire. Outside, fog rolls at the window. Logs crackle in the grate. Then-
footsteps on the stairs, a banging on the door. a client rushes in, wide-eyed, disheveled, with a strange and terrible tale to tell...
And that's it. You're hooked. Try as you might, you can't pull free.
What made the tales so good? At first I thought it was the detective stuff. But as I re-read the tales, I realized it wasn't the detection that thrilled me as much as the atmosphere around it. The foggy streets, the clients- vulnerable women, desperate men..'
And the only reason why I mention all these phrases is because it covers every single thing and the way I feel about this fabulous series. Jonathan has hit the nail on the head, and I wouldn't be able to say exactly how I feel about but he has got it right.
Score: 10. This absolutely deserves a solid ten. Like Stroud said, the atmosphere, the characters, and the ingenuity of the stories is simply incredible.

I chose this book for Book Bingo this week because I thought it was very interesting.
Christopher's mum had died two years ago, when he was 13. He is an autistic child who discovered a dead dog on his neighbor's lawn. He decides to find out who killed the dead dog (Wellington), but when he tells his dad, he makes him promise not to. Nevertheless, he continues his search, and writes a book about it. However, when his dad discovers the book, he is furiously angry, and he and Christopher have a fight. A few days later, though, while looking for his book, he finds it, and a letter from his 'dead' mum. He takes it to his room and reads it, and finds it was sent 18 months after his mum died. He goes back a few days later to the shirt box, and finds 43 more, all addressed to him and one of them explaining why she'd left them both. Left them? She hadn't died? His dad finds him and decides to tell him the awful truth. That he had killed Wellington because he was mad at Mrs. Shears, because her husband 'stole' his wife. In shock, Christopher runs away and steals his dad's cash point card. His dad told him the number a few years ago. He goes to London and finds his mother, but an argument springs up between she and Mr. Shears, the man she now stays with, and they are forced to leave to go back to Swindon. They stay with Christopher's dad for a while, until he throws them out and they go to live in a flat. When his mum is at work and he gets home, he has to go to his dad's house. His dad begs him for forgiveness, and in the end, he got a Labrador from his dad as a sorry present. Little by little, they begin to be friendly again. At the end, Christopher takes his a level test and aces it.
I'm not so sure about this book. I was reading it and a few people told me that is was very advanced. So I simply finished it and thought, is that it? Because it was good and all, yes, but I don't think I understand it. Her mother, Eva serves as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Catherine, while her father Michael is Henry's favorite court jester. On her thirteenth birthday, Elinor is appointed a lady-in-waiting to Queen Catherine. The court is thrown into turmoil, when Henry pleads with his wife to "release him". He wishes to marry Anne Boleyn, another lady-in-waiting. Meanwhile, Elinor is ordered to become a lady-in-waiting to Anne, separating her from her family. She soon meets a black smith named Tom, who later joins the court. The following year, she and Tom marry with the King's permission. Henry declares that the Church of England will not answer to the Pope anymore, appointing himself as the supreme head of the church. He subsequently abandons his wife Catherine, moving her to small, damp house. Elinor meanwhile experiences happiness at the birth of first child, Michael. The following winter, Anne shows signs of pregnancy and she quietly marries the King in a private ceremony. Anne gives birth that September to Elizabeth, not the hoped-for boy. Anne goes through several fruitless pregnancies over the following years. The King loses hope for Anne and his eyes wander to Jane Seymour, a lady-in-waiting. At the beginning of 1536, Catherine passes away, leaving only one wife for Henry to be rid of. Thomas Cromwell accuses Anne of committing adultery. She is found guilty of charge and beheaded. Elinor, shortly later, leaves court to live a peaceful life with her family.
I did not like this book at all. Soon, after passing through the Florae of Waterway, she gets to the Domicile of Ordances. Karachi, a boy she meets, who is on the council, agrees to help her train. In the hotel they are staying at in the Unpurged area, Ruby gets laughed at a Warlock who gives her something that allows him to walk and talk to her in her dreams. His name is Kazak. After that, she starts training. In 3 days, she carves a beautiful bow when the most experienced take 3 weeks. Then, she starts training with blades. She had graduated from Fort Arc, so now she is under the care of the two mean coaches on Fort BAEZ, Talwochi and Berechi. But as the alliance grows stronger and stronger, Alistair has a feeling the Kabras are dishonest about the bonding. Lucians, after all, love to do things on their own, and are known as liars. Excellent ones. But Amy and Dan are oblivious, and they all are stuck in a cave together after coming to Korea...will the Kabras have genuine intentions after all, or have the others been played?
Score: 10! Whoa...I really love this book because it's like, thinking oh cool they're going to find the next clue yay it's all working out but then the twist at the end...it leaves me full of outrage and shock for my favorite characters! Unfortunately, I read a book that was ahead in the series, so the guy in the book who turns out to be "dead", him, I know it can't be because I read the other book after that and he was alive.

By Linda Sue Park
Amy and Dan have a lot of leads for the next clues but unfortunately they don't know what they mean or what to do with it. AND Nellie, their au pair has been acting really strange. It usually takes people months to get a ticket to Tibet but she made one phone call and got it immediately. What's more, on her account there's been suspicious emails asking for a report on them. When they confront her, she is forced to admit it-she has been reporting their every action to Mr. Mcintyre, their lawyer. And the man in black-they don't know much about him but they do know he is a MADRIGAL, like them. Can they trust Nellie or will they turn out to be wrong...again.
Score: 10
I really liked this book as I liked everything about it-all the action and I liked how surprised I was at every page. I'm still like-every time I read one of these, I seem to assume that of course the dying character won't die but then they do and I'm like "wait what?" I think that is my favourite out of the whole series. But why the ship on the cover and the title when they didn't really go on a ship? Well I guess there was a hurricane but...still.
