Denis is serving up some of the most majestic of scientific fiction images we've seen on the 21st century cinema screen.

In many ways overcomes some of the weakness of the first (pacing overall felt better, obviously less setup, the score is used more sparingly in a way that allows many more moments breathe). But still suffers from the necessity of cramming so much story into such a small space. Some beats that need to feel pivotal, felt rushed to me and there's not much room for character performance to do the heavy lifting. You hardly notice though because you're inside a such stunningly realized alien landscape for the length, with so much to look at and take in. Not only that, but for some reason I was really hesitant to watch this flick...and to my surprise, the more I was trying to find any failures, the more I realised this has pretty much none in my opinion.

The animation is fantastic with even the bride face makeup being iconic (even I did that as part of my final work for my special makeup class on film school) and they are so creative and fitting to Tim Burton's grim brand in a way they feel human, but also uncanny.

All in all, maybe I am just overhyping it, but thanks to some very good performances, great premise, cinematography and humor as well as pacing, this is definitely one everyone should watch.

By the end, Nina's quest for perfection-and Portman's remarkable performance-will leave you breathless and that, for me, is what instantaneously dazzled me. Don't get me wrong, there are moments of pure suspense and unease, especially in the ways that certain characters act. The brilliant symbolism, the imagery, the foreshadowing, and the writing overall is genius.

 The way Peele blends social commentary with a suspenseful plot is masterful and he gets all his points across in a strong way. The film also has some hilarious moments and I love that he didn't shy away from that.

What this movie portrays so brilliantly well is how we view media today, because most of the stories you hear on the news might not be true and how the media can spread lies about people and ruining their lives.
