Learning ESP - Paranormal Documentary

Throughout the video, the narrator talks about scientific tests done which "prove" ESP is at play, and talks about scientists "confirming" ESP, but uses vague statistics and doesn't elaborate on his statements. Seems to scream "appeal to authority"... At one point, they get children to do an ESP experiment, and there is a funny moment - a boy gets every answer correct, a little girl starts calling him out for looking at the cards, and the video quickly cuts to the next part, where the narrator talks about that boy's ESP powers.

In the video, he takes on the satirical role of an ESP master. He chooses someone from the audience, does the experiment, and then does a funny show of knowing the cards and then admitting it was a trick. I thought this was a good video, because it helps you think more about what the trick is and what other possible tricks there are, rather than thinking "i wonder if he has ESP?"

It goes on the premise that many people are born with psychic abilities, but that those who aren't can still learn them. The video shows a lot of charts, and uses a lot of scientific terms to make the viewer feel like it's more legitimate, by relating ESP to science. Seems like "proof by verbosity" to me.

Here it talks about ESP and how you can learn to have better abilities. It uses terms like "quantum leap" to sound scientific and smart, when in reality it's just buzzwords. They also explain that if you start doing worse on their ESP tests than you did before, it's probably because you're bored, not because ESP isn't an actual thing. This site could cater to people from an Ideological standpoint, because if you're visiting that site regularly then you probably hold a certain belief about those things.

One of her subtitles is "Your Dreams Can Come True!", and goes on to explain that anything is possible if you learn ESP. That's a red flag right there, because it's catering to people who might feel desperate to better their lives in some way, and convinces them that learning ESP is the way to do that. It could be an emotional connection type of thing.

Throughout the website, you are bombarded with tweets and other information from pseudoscientists and studies, which seem to be there to help "prove" ESP being real. It really appears to be another site which tries to sway someone who's on the fence, and to keep someone believing in ESP.

This image is for a hotline/online psychic contact company. It claims that you can call one of the psychics, based on what you want to talk about, and receive answers. That right there is suspicious to me, because that means you'll be calling a specific one for a specific purpose. This would make it a whole lot easier for that psychic to give you a vague or general answer, and thus make you believe they really know your situation.

I thought this was an interesting photo to include, because you can see the charts and diagrams they have hanging up. This caught my eye because it ties in with the "appeal to authority" thing, where if they display a bunch of scientific-looking things, some people will see it as more legitimate.

This is an image of a silly/true graph someone made, relating to supernatural powers. Obviously "supernatural powers" is more vague than just "ESP", but I still thought it was a good one to include, because it's pretty true. There is no way an experiment could prove that ESP is real, because in the end it could always come down to luck. On the other hand, many experiments show that ESP probably isn't a real thing at all.
