It has long been the custom that every good housewife had to have certain skills of needlework: sewing, weaving, embroidery, knitting. Girls and women created luxurious sundresses and dresses decorated with incomparable embroidery with a tambour seam. The national Karelian folk costume reflected the life and everyday life of ordinary residents who were accustomed to work hard and do what they loved.
The girls' dresses had to be bright, noticeable. In addition to the red embroidery on the product, many housewives preferred to sew red, blue dresses, but always in combination with a white background. Such a dress looked surprisingly gentle, beautiful and luxurious.
Coming into contact with the milestones of Karelian history and culture, it can be traced that the clothes of women and men have always been free, not restricting movements.Dresses, sundresses, men's shirts were sewn in a straight style. A lot of frills, flounces complemented and decorated clothes.
Men, like true gentlemen, were gallant and attractive. The men's costume consisted of a white shirt with embroidery, colored trousers, ports, a black vest and a hat.The women's costume was more diverse. Needlewomen made up their outfit from a sundress and a loose jacket, or a skirt and a canvas shirt, often girls decorated their outfits with beautiful aprons. A light flare is present on every sundress.The woman's hairstyle was decorated with antique headdresses.
