  • The High Plains were formed by sediments from the Rocky Mountains.
  • Red Hills are red from Iron Oxide.
  • The Glaciated Region got its name because of the glaciers that once rested on this part of Kansas many years ago.
  • The Ozark Plateau is the region that has the oldest surface rock in the state.
  • Arkansas River Lowlands had been carrying from the Rocky Mountains for many years.
  • Wellington-McPherson Lowlands contains sand dunes covered in grasses and underground it has both water and salt that supplies Wichita, McPherson, and Newton.
  • The Cherokee Lowlands is a soft rolling land with very fertile soil. This makes this land great for agriculture.
  • Chautauqua Hills are usually used for grazing grounds because the medium-tall grass, Hardwood Trees(Such as oak wood).
  • The Smoky Hills region earned its name because of the visible haze in the early morning in the valleys.
  • Flint Hills Uplands has few trees, except on the stream bottoms.
  • The Cuestas in Osage Cuestas is Spanish for Cliff or Hill.
