My name is Rachel Thoma. I'm currently an English lecturer at the Language Center at the University of Tübingen and will be teaching Think Globally. I'm originally from Palo Alto, California in the US, now the heart of Silicon Valley. I have studied both on the East Coast of the US and in Germany. I have a Bachelor's degree in Comparitive Religions and International Politics and a Master's degree in Education and American Studies.

At the Language Center I teach a number of academic and business English courses, but have specialized in Intercultural Communication and Sustainability. Occasionally I teach Storytelling Theater, which is close to my heart. In the past I have learned much about the world and myself through social theater ensembles and community organizing.

Global issues that continue to interest me greatly are intercultural communication to support international collaboration and learning, social entrepreneurship and ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) systems to foster economies that value people and planet alongside profits.

Hello! I am Iulia. I am currently studying Media Studies in a Master program at the University of Tübingen, as an exchange student. I am originally from Romania, where the stories of Dracula come from. I have a Bachelor`s and Master`s degree in Civil Engineering in Foreign Languages.

I am currently work in a company that offers BPO services to other companies and I work in the Quality Team. In my free time I work on other projects as volunteer, projects who focus on working with children.

Hi everyone. My name is Abigail and I am from South Africa. I am a 3rd year, Fine Art student at Nelson Mandela University. A fun fact I can share is that the two main sculptures (on campus)of Nelson Mandela and his blue shirt was made by one of my lecturers and her students. We even had a 'practice' replica painted in gold sitting in one of our quads.
I am studying towards my bachelors and soon my honours degree. In my free time I am a teacher at an art school and I volunteer at exhibitions and other functions. These have really helped me grow and improve as a person.
My current body of work explores the dichotomy of comfort and tension through the materiality of maize meal. Although this year my work is focusing on the personal, next year I will expand my research into the socio-political, agricultural, historical and, economical context. I think that discussing global issues will help me broaden my research and develop a better understanding for what I am working towards.
On another note, I am really interested in pursuing a second degree in ecological studies or something scientific. I am no stranger to observation, documentation and experimentation...
I enjoy jumping between many sports, spending alot of time outdoors and going on adventures. When I have the opportunity, I go on trips around SA and learn more about our history and environment. My ouma tends to go with me and together we trace her life story through visiting towns she used to live in.

I am from Queensland, Australia. I am a PhD student at Griffith University, Australia. I have a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering.

In my research center, I am researching on Nanotechnology to develop wearable electronics device to detect disease through sweat. My research aims to improve patient disease prediction and help doctors recognize diseases to treat them sooner.

In the future, I want to continue pursuing research career on nanotechnology and bio-electronics devices to detect diseases early and improve human life quality.

Hello! My name is Moisés Marinho. I'm pursuing a bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Brazil.

Currently, I'm studying Data Engineering in a laboratory and working with the Municipal Government to personalize public policies to the neediest population. I love working in this area because there is much power in data and each task I do immediately helps the people of my city.

I am Muhammad Yosefi. I was born in Iran, but I am originally from Afghanistan, a country that has been at the top of the world's news for many years due to war, explosions and suicides. I graduated from Balkh Public University in business management. My hobbies are playing futsal, swimming, volleyball, table tennis, book reading, news, surfing the Internet. Besides all these things, Traveling to different countries of the world, Meeting different people, getting to know different cultures, living abroad and continuing my studies in a famous and prestigious university is one of my dreams. But getting an immigration or study visa is one of the problems that most Afghans face.
