Present day if you asked around about a third of adults in the U.S would say they ate fast food on any given day

The fast-food industry provides one of the cheapest ways to get food. Because of this many people like to eat fast food. This food is filled with salt, sugar, and lots of fat. This causes many people who regularly eat this food to become fat and obese. These restaurants provide mostly fair wages and many have lots of opportunities for promotions. Due to these opportunities, many people work in these restaurants and it is a good first job to gain experience in the workplace.

Environmental Impacts

Millions of fast food meals are eaten every day. There is often a very large environmental impact on the places supplying the meals because they need to supply so much. There are so many resources needed to make a hamburger so if just McDonald's sells 2.5 billion hamburgers there are billions and billions of fast food meals made. Each one wastes a ton of wheat, water, and lots of other resources just for one meal. Every year 22 to 33 billion pounds of food waste is thrown away wasting the materials used for it.

Problem and Solution

The problem is that fast food is unhealthy for both the people who eat it and the places where the food is produced. Plastic waste goes all over the globe filling landfills and destroying animals' habitats. The food itself isn’t healthy either and overeating of it does causes obesity and being overweight. There are solutions to these problems though. The waste produced by these meals can be made into recyclable materials that can be reused instead of strewn over the earth. The food can have less fat and sugar and be cooked differently to keep it from being too unhealthy.

After doing this project I have learned lots of things about fast food from its history to its environmental impact. After learning about this stuff I think that I still would like to eat fast food mostly because I still do not completely understand the effects it has on people and the environment. I want to learn more about solutions to these problems and how normal people can help. This is what this project has taught me.
